I have been using Thayer's witch hazel (rose scent, alcohol free) in a spray bottle after I use setting powder. It takes away the powdery look.

Some days I don't use setting powder at all because my face is just too dry, so I don't use the Thayer's on those days.

I made some of this DIY aloe face mist to spritz my face with during these winter days.

I think I will try using it as a setting spray as well, as it will probably be better for my dry skin than witch hazel.

I'm 65 and have dry skin. The primer I use is Laura Geller Champagne Spackle, followed by Elta MD tinted UV Daily spf 40 or, NEOCUTIS Micro-Day spf 30. I sometimes top with a little Laura Geller Bronze n Brighten in Fair. Then, Urban Decay Chill setting spray.

I think one might have to be really careful using "hairspray" around your face and especially around ones eyes. Lots of chemicals in hairsorays. Where did you learn this from? Just curious.........😱

No, I don't use a setting spray. I've looked at the ingredients and I do not want to spray denatured alcohol on my face and possibly get it into my eyes.
