I have an IT eyeshadow pallette and assumed the product was made in the US. HA! It’s made in China! I don’t want to use products like makeup or skin care that comes from China. Also, unless you have the original packaging, you can forget about finding the ingredients.
If you care about what you’re using on your skin, do research! Of course the very helpful (?)sales people on the Q are not going to divulge this info.
@this is my nic You stand the best chance of finding country of origin and ingredient deck on the indiviual webites. I wouldn't count on that info being there either, though.

I googled for Cover Girl (my current choice) ...
Covergirl foundation, powders, and eyeshadow are made in the USA. Their eyeliners and mascara are mostly made in Germany.

It's a global economy. Even if a product is made in the USA that doesn't guarantee that the ingredients used to make it was sourced from the USA. Ingredients come from all over the world and it's impossible to find them all here within our borders.
Many, if not most, of our Rx drugs are made in China and India. That should be more of a concern than what we use as cosmetics.

Why did you assume it was made in the US?

I think all items should have to list a country of origin, like food does. With that said, it seem like every week someone posts about "OMG ... it's made in CHINA!!" w/o saying why they specifically don't want to buy items from China. Of course they have the right to feel what they feel ... I'm just curious as to why just China ... when there are so many other countries we import product from. For example, I dont typically like to buy soft fruit from any S American countries because I don't think they taste great. Too long on the water, picked when not fully ripened, etc.
My preference would be to buy 100% of what I use to be from US. But in the near term, that doesn't seem possible.

It's hard. On one hand our goods would be SO much more expensive if we couldn't/didn't buy from China. On the other hand it's a pity we are somewhat "forced" to buy from an oppressive and socialist county. I don't know how some people keep from buying from China. That would be a full time job. I will admit to not checking where things are made. My husband does tho and will look for an alternative. There aren't many (alternatives). He HATES that a lot of the supplies he uses in his job have moved to being made in China. He says he can tell the difference in quality (not better). I'ved never heard him say he has a purchasing choice of where his supplies come from.

@this is my nic Great Question! I WANT to know.
. . But sometimes, it's not too easy to figure out! . . . I wonder why <weg>
Feelings are simply human
How we deal with, ..or express those feelings .. is our choice

@kate2357 I don't buy from China because too many of their products have been found defective or worse tainted. I don't see that happening much from western European countries. They also have lax laws about labor and a government system I do not care to support.
And I don't need or have to buy makeup so I can be selective about where it comes from. There is no makeup product from China I can't get from other places or simply don't need. And I am a big reader of labels on everything.
