Re: Do you highlight or color at home?

I've colored my hair since I was in my 20's.

Mostly salons but now  only at home since Covid. I buy Redken Cover Fusion and developer on the web. Watched my former stylist mix it 50/50 many times. Works out cheaper than the boxed brands.

I'll venture back into a salon eventually but right now, enjoying saving the coin.

Re: Do you highlight or color at home?

DD is my stylist.  I trust her with my hair way more than myself.  I tried going grey but it wasn't happening, so I'm back to highlights and lowlights until more natural grey comes in. I'm wearing my hair short now so I'm in her chair more often than I used to be.

Re: Do you highlight or color at home?

I color my hair at home but if i were to get highlights or balayage I'd go to a salon. I tried to highlight my hair at home once and the results weren't good (probably my error) so I'm not going to attempt it again.

No, never have & never will.  I leave that to the professionals, as well as nails, pedicure, and waxing.  The rest, I can handle...LOL!

Re: Do you highlight or color at home?

@shoesnbags My father's sister was totally gray in her early 20's! My younger sister started getting gray long before  I did. She is completely gray/silver and it looks good on her. As far as I know, no one in my family has escaped going gray LOL. I have silver in my hair, not gray, and it shows but it looks pretty good because of the way it's "placed" I guess you'd say.

@Love my grandkids

Thanks for answering! I definitely don't take after anyone in my father's family, hairwise.  He and most of his sisters had curly black hair that turned silver.  One sister had lighter hair, but she always colored it so I don't know what color it really was as she aged.  It's my mom's family, specifically her dad, who seemed to have the "no gray" genes.  My brother has the same light brown hair as me, and so far it isn't gray. But he is 6 years younger  than me (67) so time will tell.

Re: Do you highlight or color at home?

I've had my hair colored at a salon 2x.  The color didn't last any longer than what a can do at home with a box color.  I can't (or haven't taken the time to learn how to) do highlights tho.  I don't think the color looks flat but for $100+ I could probably get more dimension at a salon.  Not that big of a priority for me right now.
