I start out with high heat only on the scalp area where my hair is the wettest and then switch over to medium heat to finish drying it.

I rarely blow dry my hair but I always use the lowest setting.

I have to use M, if I switch to H, my circuit breaker goes off.

I rarely blowdry, maybe a couple times a year. When I do it's generally on low.

I let my hair air dry for a while. When drying, I always use the diffuser attachment. Then I use high heat/high speed to quickly get some of the dampness out. Then I use high heat/low speed as I start at the top of my head to get some "lift" (using the other hand to sort of flu**--it blocked the word flu**). Then I use a paddle brush for smoothness on the rest of my hair, which is just past shoulder-length. When styling with my very large round brush, I always finish with a zap of cool air to set it.
ETA that I always spray my hair with TRESemmé Heat Tamer and brush through before any heat styling.

I've seen that happen when QVC is demonstrating some of their hair styling products. During the most recent Chi demo, I think every model's hair was smoking as the vendor was pulling that Chi down the lock of hair!

My hair is only blow dried once every 6 weeks by my hairdresser when I get my color done. It is down to my waist and very thick so I wash my hair three times a week in the late afternoon so maybe it will be dry by bedtime. I do use the dryer on my bangs for a split second.

I noticed a dramatic decrease in drying time since I started using the microfiber hair towels. I highly recommend them. By using them, I have found I just need to use low heat to dry.

it's never a good idea to use the high setting. sure it may help dry hair faster but the higher heat you use, the higher chance you're going to fry your hair regardless of keeping the dryer moving and using the styling creme. it's best to use the lowest setting that will do the job even if it takes a bit longer. it would be interesting to see pics of those of you who say you use the high setting to see how your hair looks compared to if you used a lower setting.

Since Chaz mentioned how damaging regular towels were to your hair, I switched to microfiber hair towels. I was amazed how well they worked! My drying time has dramatically decreased and I found using the lowest setting on my hair dryer works perfectly.
