Do facial devices REALLY work?

[ Edited ]

With consistent use and properly followed instructions, do any facial devices really work?  I'm talking about the Nuface, LightStim, Facemaster, SSC egg, etc.  I got intrigued by the SSC egg the other day but don't have a lot of faith in SSC products so didn't order.  At 54, my main concerns are drooping upper eyelids, some small wrinkles around the eyes, starting to get puppet lines around the mouth, and have a lot of vertical lines from lip to nose.  Not a lot of sagging in any area...yet.  I've searched the forums and read and read but get differing opinions.  If it worked like it said it would, the Nuface Trinity w/all 3 attachments ($529...ouch) would certainly cover all my concerns.  All opinions welcome!

As with anything, @Ainhisg, there are users who have achieved success and others who have not.  For those who haven't, you never know if it was the device not living up to expecations or the user not living up to the required committment of using the device consistently as required. The only way you'll know for sure is if you try it yourself.  But you also need to understand that it requires a committment by you to follow the directions exactly.  It might not sound like a big deal, but can you commit to using the device everyday for several months until you reach the maintenance stage?  Even in the maintenance stage, I think you still have to commit to several times a week.

@Ainhisg For me they do.  I have been a faithful facemaster user since they first came out.  Mine broke and at that time these devices were being required to get FDA approval in order to keep selling them so I could not get another.  When they became available again about a year later I ordered one. After just one usage, I looked in my reaview mirror and WOW I sure noticed a huge difference  I now have a backup one.  I also use the SSC egg and while the facemaster gets better results in the eye area because there are 2 thin wands, the egg has helped my jowels and checkbone area best.

The facial devices I own and have used:

Silk 'n FaceFx

SSC Egg

Facial Flex

They all work, but all way too time consuming for my liking. PLUS, imo, these all have the "Cinderella effect"...which means the results you get last for only a few hours then your face goes back to where it was before you started. Vicious cycle! I'm not using any of these now and probably won't in the future.

@SilleeMee

I have used Facial Flex for years ... it only takes me a couple of minutes a day.  Usually when I'm sitting here at the computer in the morning and then again later in the day.

It is true that the effect doesn't last ... no "exercise" lasts for ever.   I left mine home one time when I went to spend a week with my parents - after about three days the sagging was noticeable.   But - all fixed after a few days at home again using the FF.

There are other simple facial exercises that my sister uses and swears by.  No device needed.

This is why I don't buy them. The device may work, but I definitely won't. Smiley Happy At this point, I don't have any real lines or wrinkles, so I may decide it's worth my time later, but I'm not spending hundreds of dollars on something I know I'm not committed enough to use, not even if I knew for sure it had a 100% chance of working.

Re: Do facial devices REALLY work?

I have 5 or 6 of different facial devices in a drawer... I bought them in my 40's and 50's... now 61 I am OVER IT.  I realize now that  a wrinkle or such is no big deal. Who am I trying to impress?  I want my health and happiness... be the best I can. No device is going to give me that.

I feel sorry for women who feel they have to try to look younger in their 60's 70's and 80's.... or go to extremes like Joan Rivers did. And Joan still looked 80 just with a funny looking face. Go figure.

Re: Do facial devices REALLY work?

I am loving the GloPRO sold on the other channel. I have tried just about everything to and they are all in a drawer making me feel guilty. They either took to much time, were akward to use or just didnt seem to be doing anything. The GloPRO is microneedlling with red light therapy- about 10 minutes, twice a week. I had tried needling before and it was painful and when I fell and had abrasions to my face several yrs ago i was afraid to microneedle even over the healed areas. These needles are very small, mildly uncomfortable and when I use my regular products afterwards there is a slight stinging for a couple of minutes. I really feel like i have seen an improvement in my skin tone and tightness and it is easy emough that I have stuck with it for about a month now. I am 64 and my concerns are basically skin elasticity as I dont really have many wrinkles yet.

@NeNe1010,

I agree about needling. I don't use the GloPro but another brand and I would have to say this method has done more for my skin than any other thing I have tried. My needles are a little longer than GloPro's but not much. I actually alternate between two different sizes. I'm very holistic in my pre and post skincare when doing the needling...everything organic and usually single ingredient.

Needling is not for everyone.

I can't speak for others but I am not trying to impress anyone and just want to be the best I can - FOR ME!  It's all part of health and happiness.  I workout daily and to ignore the muscles in my face makes no sense!
