Do You Think Skincare Products Can Really "Firm" Your Skin?

I've been on a new skincare routine for a couple of months.  Several nights ago when I was applying said skincare my face felt more firm/plump and has continued to feel that way.  I also seem to feel it when applying makeup.  It's not dry and tight.  If it is dry I give up!  I apply so much hydration morning and night and spray essences on a couple times during the day if I can remember to.   So, I'm asking if you think products really can because I've always felt that was a advertising gimmick.  Makes me wonder if I'm just imagining it!  LOL.

No! Only if you want to believe it will. But ask a derm or plastic, no.

Speaking of skin care, has anybody seen a Plexaderm ad lately? They used to be on aaaaallllll the time but I haven't seen one for a couple of months. They had the most obnoxious commercials and the afters always looked the same or worse than the befores.

There's only one product which can claim that it makes skin firmer and that would be Retin-A. The FDA has officially called it an anti-aging drug because of what it does.

FYI...............

Retin-A doesn't firm skin. It exfoliates/removes the top layer of cells on your skin.

@monicakm

Whether or not you can explain the firm skin, or anybody else believes it, if you're experiencing it, there's no reason to think you are imagining it.

Perhaps your skin was needing something specific, and you happened on a product or routine that provides it.

Who knows why? Enjoy it and keep doing it!

Exfoliation is a side effect of using Retin-A and is not designed to be it's intended use. The anti-aging part happens beneath the surface where it interacts with three retinoid receptors, the third one being the deepest where it inhibits the production of collagenase, the enzyme responsible for collagen breakdown. The inhibitory action is the reason for collagen building in the skin, not exfoliation. When collagen builds in the skin then the skin becomes firmer and on the surface the effects can be seen as smoother skin.
