Do You Remember This Hair Product?

I was thinking back about some things from my childhood and remembered my mom setting my hair.  My hair would be wet, she would put this on the hair, roll it in rollers and either have me sit under the hair dryer to dry my hair or go to bed and TRY to sleep with the rollers covering my whole head.   Oh my....the good old days!!   :-)

I'm 73, remember it, never used it...I have rollers in my hair right now & will sleep in them, no big deal.

I never could sleep with rollers in my hair although I did it on occasion.  I also can't put it on top of my head and sleep or wear a satin anything on it to save the curls.

I remember Dippity Do but I don't think I ever used it.

Interestingly, I was reading reviews for a Ouidad pomade I was considering buying.  Someone said they used it like Dippity Do and I thought that's not how the product was described.  Pomades are generally used on dry hair.

Of course, I remember. My sister would use it for my pin curls.

Girls back in my day used setting lotion to hold their hair in place when wearing a ponytail or pigtails too.  Dip the comb in the bottle, wipe the excess off on the rim, and comb through to get the short hairs to lay flat.

I remember setting my hair with it in the 60's. It was green. I used to follow the instructions from 17 Magazine on how to set hair.😀 It gave me a hairstyle that was relatively straight but full of body. It didn't flake either. 😀 How did  I sleep in those pink giant rollers? 🥺

Re: Do You Remember This Hair Product?

Oh yes.  I used the pink stuff.

My hair has always been poker straight and everyone else in my family has curly hair.  My mother thought I needed curly hair too.

Every night from the second grade forward, I set my own hair with Dippity-do on brush rollers before bed. I used a pick to secure the rollers.  I have a permanent indentation on my forehead that can be felt where the pick was.  I did that for years.

When I got a bit olderI wore a Bob do with the front curled forward in a c shape. I used dippity-do with pink hair tape to plaster my hair to my cheek and rollers on the top and back.

All was in vain. My curls only lasted about an hour.

I remember my mom using that. She never used it on any of the kids hair.
