Differin or retin A?

Which one do you like/use? I got a script for generic Differin. Insurance won't cover. They won't cover generic retin A either. I have tons of blackheads everywhere. Had them forever. Went to derm for a different issue and he recommended Differin. The generic was $200 a tube at my pharmacy. But the generic retin A was cheaper. Which one is better? I am 40 y/o with usually combo skin but right now it's dry. Help .... Please.
