I like dupe videos. I don't get to walk into a Sephora or Ulta. I have only a small amount to spend on unnecessary beauty items anyway. It gives me ideas on what I might like to try.

This is a tight economy. Someone is afraid they might lose a sale calling out nearly identical items. Hello Elf.

@Midmod  Yes! Drugstore makeup is the best and I like dupe items too- I prefer them Smiley Very Happy! I don't have the budget to buy department store makeup- so I go to the Walgreens or I use coupons at Ulta or wait for their 21 Days of Beauty event to buy a department store blush or two.  The way I see it is- a man I date won't know the difference between MAC or Maybelline and if I can put together a great made up face with drugstore makeup, then that's what I want to do Smiley Happy.  The trends in fancy makeup are always replicated in drugstore makeup so I never really feel like I'm missing out.  Plus, I get to talk to my favorite cashier at Walgreens whenever I buy makeup or go to Walgreens- we talk about snacks, dating, makeup and more and I really look forward to talking to her each time I go!  Smiley Very Happy

I also doubt calling an item a dupe will affect high end sales.

@Midmod  Ooh high five for that incredible bargain Smiley Very Happy!! Way to go, Beauty Babe! I love Maybelline precision eyeliner pencils because they have great color pay off and they really create such pretty eyeliner looks Smiley HappyHeart  Nothing is better than stacking coupons and store rewards points to make an ultimate drugstore makeup deal!

@Midmod  Great point! I like the term "dupe" and those videos are really helpful- I like to learn about current makeup trends and see how I can create them with affordable drugstore products Smiley Happy. I'll let the vloggers remove "dupe" from their vocabulary, but I hope that they'll still post their favorite drugstore makeup videos Smiley Happy

@shortyshorty07
I predict a new term will replace "dupe"😉

@Midmod  Thank you, Midmod Smiley Very Happy! I hope that there's a new term for "dupe" maybe it could be "sister" or something.  I wonder if the dupe ban  will effect the beauty blogger creator of the website Temptalia- she's the queen of color swatches and finding dupes for high end cosmetics. Smiley Happy

@Midmod  Temptalia dot com is great Smiley Happy. I usually turn to her photos and recommendations when I'm trying to buy a lipstick or blush, but I want to see the swatches first before I go to buy them.  Temptalia is great with color dupes- and she tries on the makeup so I can see what it looks like on her face.
