Did anyone see this on a recent receipt?

I don't know is this has already been posted but, I just opened a tiny pkg. from the Q. There is a notice there that I'd normally not even read but, it cut my eye. Basically it says, for returns after 2/17/15 we won't get back the original amount for S&H!!! That's so aggravating! And, I feel like an idiot for not reading it sooner! I was already getting a bit unhappy with shipping. They will charge $3.00 for their "new and improved" shipping policy. I had ordered a bunch of Joan Rivers T-shirts as underpinning with little jackets, sweaters, etc. I must had ordered at least eight of the them. These little tees couldn't weigh more than half a pound all together. Yet, I was charged $3.00 for each one! Then, I recently sent back a D&B bag and few pieces of jewelry. Rather than sending them separately I put them all in one box...via UPS. It cost me between $10.00 and $13.00, I just can't remember. But that's a lot less than sending them with the prepaid label at $7.00 per item! So many other major Department Stores are going to free shipping ~ you all know the ones. This is becoming a very expensive way to shop! Again, if this was already discussed, please just tell me. If not~what do you all think???

Yes, this has been discussed ad nauseam. There was a point when it cluttered the boards, and you can still find many of these threads that are recently active.

And QVC even posted their new policy for a good while. It's not a bad deal if you don't return much (and I don't). However, returns can get quite expensive.

Yes, this was already discussed. Most people don't like the new policy. Doesn't bother me as I don't make many returns. But they should make an exception for clothing & shoes. It's hard to know if they'll fit or look good until you try them on, consequently returns are higher than for other types of merchandise. I think most online retailers of clothing recognize this.

I read that in the explanation of the new shipping policy before it went into effect. I wasn't crazy about the Q charging to use their return labels, but getting the shipping back was a good trade-off, in my opinion. Now, to be out almost $10-$12 when returning an item is not at all ideal.

There are things you can do to try to lessen the chance of having to return an item, but others are out of your control. For those purchases, you'll just have to bite the bullet. I still like shopping with QVC, so I'll continue to do so. Everyone has their limit, though, and this may be it for some.

If the item is defective you still get shipping back and if you use their return label they won't charge for defective items.

Honestly, no matter who says they are shipping free, the cost of shipping is still being paid by the consumer. It may not be readily apparent, but somehow, they are bundling that cost into the purchase. Only when you can compare apples to apples, can you really determine who is offering the "best deal". I am finding that more and more, prices are being held consistent, across all retailers on the internet and in some brands in particular. (TNF being one ). There are more and more"clever configurations" offered by retailers that amount to just another way to pay the same price. Actually, I'm thinking that online shopping has led to tighter pricing control. I can still walk into a B&M store and find considerably better savings, although the B&Ms are all suffering from severely limited inventories now, where I live. Seems all the retailers are really clamping down on overstock, and beefing up uniform pricing policies. You can still get deals, but they are usually the same for the exact same item, in every retailer.

QVC may be somewhat different in that they are actually profiting from the shipping according to many here, but if you could buy a Susan Graver item in any other place, my guess is the cost would be relatively equal to the Q's factoring in shipping.

There is probably some intentional confusion, and generalized price fixing which may be a byproduct of this new retail landscape or manipulated.

Re: Did anyone see this on a recent receipt?

I can't think of another online or electronic (as in TV) retailer who profits as much from shipping fees as does QVC. Look at their financial statements some time to see how much profit they make in this category (and why we pay tax on s&h here which we don't do too many other places - at least where I shop anyway)

OP - I also had not seen another thread on this as I am not here a lot anymore. Was surprised too as I thought it would generate more conversation but guess it has and we missed out somehow.

Re: Did anyone see this on a recent receipt?

Actually, I have been away from the board for awhile and missed it too. Also, I generally only check in on the Q during commercials and maybe watch more during kitchen and beauty shos if I know they are on and hubby isn't in the room. So, I really don't know what changes have been made in the shipping policy. I did catch that they were changing over to $3 shipping on everything, but I have no idea what other changes have been made in the policy. I don't order a lot, and very rarely return, so it's not really a big issue. Clothing, even on clearance, is generally too pricey once you add in the shipping. I do make an exception for Dennis Basso, but that's pretty much it for clothing.
