Dewy or matte?

Ever noticed, there will be a finishing product for makeup to give it a soft matte finish, then something else to add highlight, sheen or dewiness to makeup. Sometimes I think we can't make up our minds! Since I've been using Mally's Poreless Face Defender, I love the soft matte look. I just want my face to look fresh and natural...any thoughts?
