Deeper/Golden Complexion? Mented Cosmetics

Slowly, QVC is including more diverse beauty brands in their inventory.  As a result of "The Find" new product tour across the country, they now have one of my favorite brands that I have been using for about a year  -- Mented Cosmetics.

Mented has a perfect shade match for my deeper/golden skin, something I cannot ever get with other shades that QVC offers, regardless of the brand here.

I actually use their stick foundation as under-eye concealer because the shades come in a sensational array, and it never creases.  Plus, when I spent $25 on Mented's website, they included a FREE sample pack of foundation shades to try out

Today, I started to buy two lip liners on QVC, but as always, they charge shipping for each individual item in your cart. Lip liners weight what, 3 ounces??  So I would have to pay $7 in total shipping for two skinny lip liners that cost $12 each.  No thank you.  Again, QVC just drives customers to other retail sites.  I went back to Mented's own site and purchased the lip liners (which came in more colors there), and like any other retail site, I paid just one shipping charge for my one order of the two lip liners, and saved money

Hey QVC -- just getting new products does not mean shoppers will merely open their wallets and close their eyes.

Re: Deeper/Golden Complexion? Mented Cosmetics

My dear friend who is African American introduced me to Mented a year or so ago and I have been wearing their lip colors and eyeshadows.  They have colors for everyone except the fairest of the fair.  I like a nude palette with a hint of pink and I was able to find the perfect shade.  The shade I always had in my head but never found with any other makeup line.

In the case of the Mented Stick Foundation I have to applaud that QVC opted to offer ALL of the colors available instead of editing the color range to what their buyers feel may be the most universal versions of light to deepest.

@Caaareful Shopper

The other night, I happened to see this presentation, but it was too fast and too new for me to make a decision so quickly. Today, I went to the Mented Website, and tried to figure out my shade, and purchased from HSN due to the fact that I had a coupon that I could use. I am very excited to try and hopefully, I picked the right shade, still on the fence about my color selection, but I will know shortly if I need to change it out or not.

They have excellent reviews.

@icezeus  You may have received your foundation by now, but if not when you do there will be a packet enclosed which has a tester for ALL of the foundation shades.  If the one you ordered isn't quite right, you won't een have to open it.

The video of the HSN presentation was fast and perhaps a bettter explanation of the colors could have been given.  Showing the colors swatched on the arms of the models should have occurred at the beginnning of the presentation, instead of the last few seconds.  The descriptions of the colors the Mented website was helpful to me, but the color compare not so much.  The comparisons are made to Maybelline, Black Opal, Fenty and MAC.  MAC makes sense because most women of color I know have at some point checked out MAC foundations if only because of their reputation as truly having an all inclusive color range. Fenty is still considered a rather new brand, and it's not widely available.  There may be plenty like me who don't shop Sephora and have not color matched themselves with that brand. I suppose they chose Maybelline and Black Opal to incude two drugstore brands. That said, when I compared my MAC and Maybelline colors I fell into two different colors in Mented.  After trying colors from the tester packet I see the shades are quite forgiving and I am able to wear L30, L40 and T10.

@Trix

I actually went by my postal annex box and picked up my stick foundation today. I don't know if it's because I purchased from HSN (due to a coupon that I had) but the foundation stick did not come with the tester packet that you mentioned. (Bummer) I purchased in the T40 shade, and was quite concerned that the color would be too deep, but it was not. I am wearing it now, and it's a great match. I don't like to look made up if that makes sense, and I don't. It just looks like my skin. I am very pleased. I plan on checking out their lipsticks next. I am so pleased that QVC/HSN brought this line to my attention.

By the way the Sephora color match machine is overrated in my opnion, so don't feel as if you are missing anything. I was in Sephora about two weeks ago  because I had lunch with a former co-worker, and we were in the area. Too many people for me in the store. Luckily, there was also a JC Penney a few doors down, and they have a Sephora store inside as well so we went in there and picked up a few things.
