I don't care for decorative manicures, so I stay with basic.

In my area people are going back to the basics.  I've heard nail salons are not happy as they make so much money off the decorative style.

I'm all for making $$, but over $200 for all that bling on nails is way to expensive, guess that's why I'm a basic person.

Oh, wow.  Yeah -- that's a lot of money.

@AngelPuppy1 ...dips are done with a special coating of polish and dipped into a jar of powder...3x.

Then a coat of gel and set under a lamp for a few minutes.  Dries instantly.  They do not get filled like acrylics...they are soaked off each time.  I've found them to stick and last better than acrylics, and super glossy.

Timing depends on the individual...some go 4 weeks, some less, some more...all depends if you don't mind seeing the new growth...and mine have never chipped or lifted.  Prices vary depending on the salon.

Sounds interesting!  Thanks for the explanation.

I feel bad about this, but you can still get a manicure for less than $10 in NYC, manhattan.  They don't pay those girls anything.  They are afraid to complain.  I try to tip the girls directly, but sometimes they are missing when my nails dry.

Wow --- that's like nothing.  I can't hardly believe it.

All these procedures at nail salons --- I guess it's a big business. I always think I want to try one of these and then I read things like your post and others and I think - no, maybe not.  Too much time, money and then the damage that can happen to your real nails.  Thanks for your post!

I guess if a person keeps getting the nail procedures and then you dont have to look at the ugly real nail issue from stop.  I personally don't think I could deal with all that.  I am thinking over all of this.  I think I will just keep doing my own thing!  Thanks!
