I was just wondering --- I know a lot of people here get manicures and acrylics and all that  -- do you get any decorations or adornaments on your nails?

I saw a young woman the other day and her nails were so pretty that I had to comment!  They were a beautiful bright red with little white polka dots!  Her nails were not overly long which I liked.  I don't like those long, pointy daggers that you see at times!  Her manicure looked so fresh and cute!  I just loved it!

I also see people with their nails all one color and then they have one or two nails with another color. Is that a populer style?

I don't get manicures and have nevere had one.  I am afraid of infection.  I rarely even use nail polish, although I have a ton of polish colors.  I used to put those little stick on decorations that you can get.

Just wondered what you prefer on your nails

I do my own nails and usually do more then one color. I also do what I saw in a magazine of putting one color on, letting it dry then put a darker color on top, then dabbing it with plastic wrap to remove some of the top color allowing the lighter shade to peek thru.

I get gel manicures --  I actually just got one after work yesterday.  I either keep it plain (whatever color I chose) or I add a sheer wash of sparkle to the color.  Yesterday I did a pretty pink color with a sheer layer of silver sparkle.  It looks very pretty!

A lot of my friends have acrylics and they get all sorts of designs and "add-ons."  Some look great and others don't.  I guess it's just a matter of personal preference... and the talent of your nail person.

Re: Decorative Manicures

[ Edited ]

Prior to retiring 5 years ago I always got the french gel manicure and kept that up for years keeping my nails short due to computer work, my nails are natural and short now without any nail polish.

I love to have decorations on my nails, but I have not done so in quite a while.  I am going to treat myself with decorated nails and a facial.

I enjoy seeing decorative manicures, but I don't wear polish or nail art.

I used polish years ago, but never been to nail salon.

I do my own nails.  I do computer work and keep them short and no polish.  Last year was the first time I had a pedicure and always did my own.  My friends raved about them and I now see why.  I will never go back doing my own.  I did skip during the winter and cut my own and no polish.  But going to get one here shortly.

My friends get gel nails.

@AngelPuppy1   I've only had one or two manicure in my life. I've always needed to keep my nails short because of working on people's faces...it just looked clean and professional.

Making jewelry and painting also needs short nails. I do wear a nail hardner like clear Sally Hansen to keep the ends from peeling since they're in water a lot.

I personally don't mind a ittle color and decor on toes that I do myself. I did get a pedicure many years ago and got an infection where my cuticles were clipped. After 2 wks. of antibiotics, I vowed to always do pedicures and manicures myself.

I have always done my own nails. I keep my nails short and use ella+mila nail polish 😊

Right now, my nails are a bit longer than usual.  But I did polish them with just a clear polish.  They look fine, but I need to cut them down soon.
