When I buy something new and find it's not right then it goes back for a refund as fast as I can get one. If it's something I think I might like and use regularly then I keep it...but when I find myself not reaching for it as much as I thought I would, such as it's sitting in my drawer for over a month,  then I toss it. Just a few months ago I tossed over a half dozen lippies I thought I would wear someday...well that 'someday' never came so in the trash they went.

I just bought several new color cosmetic products so I am faced with this issue again. I usually keep things that I still like and may use again. I have to get over saving things just because I spent good money on them. If I have found something that works much better then why save a product that does not preform as I would like? There are some things that I give to relatives that would like to use them. I would much rather give things away than throw them away.

I don't make many changes and search out replacements only if I become aware of a better alternative.

I did have a load of Mally eyeliner pencils and was gifted an auto pen by Mally which I use on the top and a L Geller's pencil which I use on the bottom.  Better than ever!  I totally changed!Smiley Happy

The next search will be when I can't get them anymore!

When I purchase something new, I try to get rid of something old. If I'm being honest it doesn't always work out for me!

I have always loved make-up from a very early age. When I was young there were very few products to choose from but that has changed big time.

After years of trying the next best thing, I have finally decided to stick with what I like and works well.

As the old saying "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

I just threw out some Perricone and some other expensive products that I've been watching gathering dust.

That felt good.

That would have hurt me.  Perricone is not cheap.  I have too much gathering dust.

Makeup I'll toss if I know I won't be using.  Skincare however I will use on the rest of my body before I would just discard.  I often laugh when I hear PTR say what a luxury it is to use his high end retinol on your body when he's hawking his larger sized Retinol PM.  A sales tactic, yes, but I've been doing this for years!

Re: Decluttering Cosmetics

[ Edited ]

I don't waste any space, or my time, with beauty items that don't work for me. I take them back right away if I can and if not, I throw them out.

Life is too short and busy to clutter it with things that you don't love. Wear all of your best every day, you're worth it!

When my nephew was in high school, he "painted" a beautiful picture with his sister's eye shadow pallette.  It was beautiful, but she wasn't happy.  I recently had some makeup I decided to get rid of, and he was happy to take it for his art.

I wish I could be a bit more ruthless when it comes to purging makeup and skincare.  It would make it easier.
