Dandruff with new short hair?

Any idea why I'm getting dandruff now (never had it before) with this new short cut? I still wash/rinse my hair like I did with long hair...meaning I rinse for a good minute or so with my hands moving around my hair. Maybe the gels/hairspray is causing it??? Any ideas ladies?
