@monicakm  No, no old boyfriends just my boyfriend and his family thank goodness.

But it always happens time and time again when you want to look great it doesn't work out that well. As a matter of fact I think it's happened all my life.

Yep, I've been wearing lashes for many years.  Very small. Ardell demi pixies 102 for so many years.  But last Sunday the glue shot on my hands somehow which I transferred to my eye. It just got sticky for some reason - transfer.   And I'm a pro. lol.

It's Murphy's law I tell you.  Best of luck with your knee surgery.

God bless.

Hope your eye is feeling better.

Yes thank you @TerryNJ . It's kind.  I was fine the next day can you believe this?  I woke up with bright white eyes.  This thread is about mishaps and what the heck can go wrong for special events.  I'm a champion at this.  Smiley Wink

Yes, it has happened to me as well. It reminds me of an old Mary Tyler Moore episode where she finally wins an award and she looks bad due to a cold. She  toaccepts the award by saying "I usually look better than this..."

When i was working, part of my job was giving speeches/presentations in front of large groups, as well as presentations to "very important people". Invariably I would break out with one or two ENORMOUS cyctic acne pimples. No hiding those. Sigh. One of the benefits of early menopause was not getting cystic acne.

I never thought I was a nervous speaker...but my body did.

Right @kate2357. Me too. Earlier on  I would get a huge pimple on my cheek or chin near my nose too.  Awful.   I would go to bed early hoping for clear skin. I wonder if it is nerves for a special event?  oh my goodness, never fails. ha.

Re: IRe: DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE BUT ME?

Speaking of pimples😜,

When I was in elementary school all of a sudden I had a big pimple on my chin! Like a witch! How embarrasing!

My solution-either not go to school, (my mother wouldn't have allowed that), so-

I spent a week drawing a cut on my chin with red food coloring and the letter opener my sister gave me.

I wore a bandaid over that.

Then when the bandaid came off I continued to draw this cut until it "healed."

To this day I can't believe I so painstakingly did this deception because there was no way I was going to school with this!

Still, it was a pretty good "cut." if I do say so myself! I later got an A in a college theater make-up course.😅

Re: DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE BUT ME?

@Pink123

I used to go to similar things as you and always felt like things weren't perfect enough and I would feel so let down!  I'm not that person any more since I've gotten older and can no longer wear the clothing, shoes, etc. that I could before.  My hair is not as nice as it was and my skin is not as good and due to health issues, I can't wear the cute shoes and a lot of the clothing that I used to like.  I used to have to have everything matching, etc.  But, I had to accept that things just are not always in my control and I've had to accept that no matter how hard I tried to have everything ship-shape before I would walk out the door, it often would not happen!  I'm sure you are too hard on yourself and you probably looked lovely.  We are often our own worse critics.  I hope you don't take this the wrong way -- but please try and relax a bit and don't try so hard -- you will probably have a more enjoyable time when you have get togethers!

@Pink123   Good morning. Yes, Murphy's Law I think. It does seem when you want to look your knockout best, something happens.

It sounds like you had a plan. Maybe just being excited about lunch had you not thinking about your beauty plan.

I'm so low maintenance, it couldn't happen to me....but I do get it.

Re: DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE BUT ME?

@Pink123 .............What you are experiencing is a anxiety/panic attack mostly likely brought on by wanting to look "perfect" for your occasion.

Besides the usual consueling or medication advise the next time you have an occasion try a more casual look.  Maybe trying a more uncomplicated hair style that is easy to do.  Also, try to forego the eyelashes and just use mascara.  When you realize that you are more relaxed your skin mostly likely wont have stress reactions.  Try a more casual comfy outfit to wear.  Your whole day should not be spent stressing out over these things.

The occasion and the people should like/love you just the same and you may end up having more fun and less stress.

Re: DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE BUT ME?

For me, It's the weather! No matter what the occasion, Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, I know that it will be hot and humid that day and probably with rain too! So my hair will be a frizz ball, my breathing will be labored, all my body aches will be felt and in general I will feel and look awful! I don't even have to check the weather report! It happens without fail every time!!!

@on the bay

to this day I can't believe I so painstakingly did this deception

You were practically a baby.  It's ok and turns out it was a learning experience for what was to come Smiley Happy  When I was practically a baby, my mother sent me to school with a sandwich baggie of salt to lick on thru out the day for my sore throat.  I ate the whole baggie of salt.  It was probably a 1/4+ of a cup.  Got SO sick!  To this day it's very hard to impossible for me to rinse my mouth with salt water.  Today I can finally say the sores I got from the teeth whitening/blue light product are finally healed.  It would have healed a lot faster if I would have used a salt water rinse a couple of times a day.
