Re: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil vs. Tatcha Cleansing Oil

The DHC Cleansing oil dried my skin out. I could not/would not use or recommend it.

I tried this, but it made my face break out. :-(. We're all so different. Like OP, I have oily skin. She should ask for samples of both! :-)

I agree and I like that DHC gives out samples. I use their shampooand conditioner that I love. I found out about it due to samples!

For what it's worth...

DHC is an olive oil cleanser
Tatcha is a camellia oil cleanser.

I've tried the DHC and didn't care for it. I was impressed by the Tatcha demo and wanted to try it, but it was way too expensive, IMO. That said, I went on a search for a dupe and found Dr. Young Camellia Deep Cleansing Oil (on Amazon). I was skeptical at first, about using an oil on my face, but it turned out that I love the Dr. Young product. It costs less than Tatcha and there's more in the bottle. I use it every night. I didn't have acne prone skin, but combo with some congested pores and a breakout every now and then. Within a very short time after starting with the Dr. Young cleansing oil, my pores were cleansed of the gunk and it balanced the oil production on my combination skin and now it's more normal than combo. When I do get a zit pop up, it goes away just as quickly. It's a very gentle product and now cleansing my face with it is one of the favorite parts of my skincare routine.

Hi JLF! I took your recommendation from reading your posts...always helpful TY. I ordered and have been using the Dr Young and the rice enzyme powder. I am loving it too ! Question though. About how long will they last if using just in the pm? I am using 613 for am. TIA

Hi suebdoo! It's kind of hard to be precise since I have my DH using the cleansing oil now, although I don't stand over him and watch so I don't know how faithful he is. However, taking two pumps at a time for my own PM cleansing, when I was the only one using it, I want to say a bottle lasted me somewhere around 5 months. When I use the FDL enzyme powder, it's part of my morning routine, not that it matters. The bottle of FDL enzyme powder stretches out longer than the cleansing oil because I use other exfoliators now so I'm not using the enzyme powder every day like I did in the beginning. I was just looking back at my purchase history and have been reminded that I've began using these products over a year ago. LOVE that cleansing oil!

Thanks! I was kinda worried because the FDL , I got the chamomile btw and it's ok, bottle was kinda small. I think I will play around when to use it. That oil is awesome I agree. Makeup melts and I see clearer pores already. Just curious on why the FDL in the am and not pm. I just followed the directions from the Tatcha page. And the oil just at night right?

The first Tatcha demo I watched (a year ago) I could have sworn Victoria said cleansing oil at night and enzyme powder in the morning. Maybe I misunderstood or maybe she said it wrong (if she was nervous about being on TV for the first time). But I also remembered back to the Philosophy days. The products s*ucked for me, but I liked the method of using the "P" cleanser at night and the exfoliator in the morning. Scientifically I don't know that it matters. Stick with what you like. Smile And, BTW, that bottle of FDL enzyme powder is double the amount of what you would get from Tatcha. Plus it doesn't contain any irritating talc!

Yeah I checked out the weights LOL glad you found a successful dupe. I just couldn't get the Tatcha price to make want to try this method. I am impressed with it so far and glad I had seen your recommendation! If you have had success in a year that's a good thing!

JLF turned me onto the Dr Young Cleansing Oil and I've never looked back. The stuff is great. I bought it in late July and have used it every night since and still have almost half a bottle so the value is outstanding. I have normal-to-oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin and love this stuff.

Re: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil vs. Tatcha Cleansing Oil

I have been using the SSC oil and it has been great to remove makeup and is very economical. I usually just find it on ebay. I have also done the OCM with olive oil and castor and/or jojoba oils. I find the oils to be great at cleansing at night when I have makeup to remove.
