My first time doing this. Someone suggested putting it in the microwave but how long? On a paper towel? Too expensive to ruin.

Re: Cutting Beekman 9oz. soap

I never did that.  Just take a big chef's knife and a cutting board and press the knife through the soap.  No sawing action required.

I've wondered about first heating the knife under hot water but haven't tried that yet.

I do it all the time!   10 seconds flat, then 10 seconds vertical and you can cut through fairly easily and the soap isn't melted!!

Re: Cutting Beekman 9oz. soap

I tried cutting mine in half with a knife and it didn't work.  Will hopefully remember the microwave suggestion next time I open one of the 9oz soaps.

Chef's knife should work. Try your pastry cutter/scraper. They also sell straight or wavy edge soap cutters at Hobby Lobby for $5.

Soap cutting follow-up. I put it in the microwave three times, 10 seconds each time then cut. It splinters if not soft enough. Cut through the O in 1802 for the center. My OCD me. By the way, Jasmine scent is wonderful.

Re: Cutting Beekman 9oz. soap

Depends on the wattage of your microwave. Mine works great at 15 seconds to cut.
