As a woman who already went through the bright eyeshadow trends of the past, it's interesting to see young people/celebrities embracing the looks from my youth.  While I'm enjoying some of the shimmers and glitter shadows, those really weren't big trends back then and, what can I say, I'm an Icegoddess.  We love sparkle.

My problem is, I see someone with bright eyeshadow on their lids and all I can think of is:

I don't care for red, orange, brick, terra cotta and orange rusts shades I'm seeing so much of. I'm also not a fan of the bright yellows or neon brights.FF2D567B-1698-476A-A8BE-E5276EEDB9E6.jpegF5A72121-5A7D-4250-BA3E-5ED65D43034E.gif

@Mindy D Neat graphics.  For me red is out, but I can do terra cotta and I like yellow.  That purple and teal in your graphic are really pretty colors although I know I can't wear the purple and doublt I could wear the teal.  I don't do orange, even if I'm wearing something that has orange in it.

Well, the new movie abt Tammy Faye Bakker  calle " The Eyes of Tammy Faye "  who was the " Queen of eyemakeup and eye shadow "  with Jessica Chastain is released on Sept 17. What I remember from back in the day she  embraced eye shadow & eyemakeup and long eyelashes

Re: Current Eyeshadow Trends

Shades like rust, burgandy and orange make my blue eyes so blue, it's unreal.  It's almost too much.  It goes to show that applying different color eyeshadow is just like painting, each color applied is directly affected by the colors adjacent and near it.

I use the sparkly shadows only sparingly, on my mobile lid.  Boy do I wish they had them when I was twenty or so, I would have gone crazy with them.

@IcegoddessHow to use you the sparkly eyeshadows that you like so much?  I always use so little, it's probably not even noticeable to others.

@decaf I like burgundy or eggplant, but it tends to make my eyes look inflamed or like I have been crying.

You and me both on the sparkly.  A few years ago I even glued crystals on my face for a Christmas skating show.  I wasn't the only one, but I really enjoyed it.

@decaf the only palette I have used so far was a Too Faced one and it claimed you would get the best results if you used their Glitter Glue eyeshadow Primer and to use your finger to apply.  I didn't have their primer, so made sure to use one I had on hand.  I'm not a fan of sticking my finger into my cosmetics, but so far that seems to be the only way to get any payoff.  Brushes just don't pick up enough.  I don't know about the sponge applicators.  I was thinking about getting a silicone one since that seems more like skin. NYX has one I'm thinking of trying, but so far, I just apply with my pinky or ring finger.

@Icegoddess  I find burgandy and pink e/s makes my eyes look red too so I always use eyeliner, that helps, and I use Lumify eye drops for that also.  It works great .  They're not e/s colors I wear all the time so I don't fret about using the drops too often.

I've never heard of a silicone e/s applicator, I'll have to look for that as I also don't like putting my finger in makeup. You're right, regular brushes just don't pick up the glittery, even some just shimmery shadows.  Maybe that's why I don't bother trying to apply them either, too much trouble.

Funny you mention this, I have a couple of cream blushes I like and of course that means dipping your finger in.  Just this week I picked of a box of individual alcohol wipes at the Dollar Tree to wipe my fingertips before I use that blush.
