@haleypiewrote:I work in a role where my nails are on display and I get a lot of comments on them, so I keep them in good shape (I give myself a manicure at least twice a week!). Every time I wear OPI Beyond The Pale Pink, I get multiple compliments. It is a 3 coat color, but the result is a less-stark, pink tinted white.
@haleypie that shade OPI Beyond The Pale Pink sounds pretty! Is it the gel or regular formula? I haven't done gel as I like to redo my nails every 3 days & don't have a UV lamp. Thanks

A sales girl in Saks shared with me a trick a few years back when applying these 'sheerer" polish shades - specifically to avoid the dreaded streaking. Simply apply a matte top coat as your base and follow with the one, two or three coats of the sheer color of your choice. You will get an even application everytime - without fail.

@aggravatedwrote:I have tried many different types of polish in the white/off white category. I've been doing my own nails since high school and I'm now in my 60s; for the lift of me cannot seem to get the application right. I end up with streaks and uneven coats every single time. I've given up on this concept.
As someone who only wears sheer shades of pale pink and creams (and does her own nails)........
Tips;
Always use a base coat.
Use a high quality polish
Load the brush with ample polish; no re-dipping, one dip per nail.
Lay the color down with minimal strokes, allow the polish to 'self level'.
2-3 coats is a must.
A nice shiny top coat hides will hide a lot of imperfections.

Check out OPI Funny Bunny. I love it. It's the only creamy white polish I've found that applies evenly.

@Abrowneyegirl Thanks for your suggestions. I do indeed do all of these things, including using top shelf nail polishes, base and top coat.

Hi Ladies...settled on Essie's "Dress Is More" after looking and trying on many different creamy shades in the Beauty Plus store at my local mall. They were out of Marshmallow which was a posted shade that I really liked but I think the shade I picked is very similar. I've been doing my own nails all my life because I'm very particular but I decided to view some You Tube videos on the proper way to apply polish so it doesn't streak. So many good tips and said it was crucial to apply a gel top coat which I did. They look like glass! I'm in love with my nails and the new color!!! Going to go back soon and look at the pale pink shades. Thanks to all the wonderful replies! Reva
