I have a horrible cowlick in the back of my head. It's even hard to get rid of right after washing, but if I want to go a day without a shampoo the amount of time I spend trying to get rid of it takes longer than if I'd just gone ahead and shampooed it.

I use the conair brush hair dryer that spins and try to pull it straight out and tight.

Do any of you have any other ideas of what I could try? I'd love to just shampoo every other day to help save my color and save time.

@Katyq:

It's a common problem. I use the Calista Perfector A268590. They demo using it to get rid of cowlicks!

I, too, have a piece of hair that tends to go in a different direction.  I put some styling gel on it, then use a hair clip to hold it in place until dry.  I hope you find some thing thing that works for you.

I've got one on the one side, close to the back: just enough so I can see it.  It gets more noticeable the longer my short hair gets.

Besides cutting it, I dampen the calyx and use a very small hair roller with the brush inside.  I keep it in from getting up until ready to leave....you might want to post a sticky note at the door before you leave as reminder to take the roller out !

Flat iron!!  That is all that will get it to lie down.  The hot air brushes don't get hot enough to deal with cow licks!

I have the same thing!  Drives me nuts. I have been wetting that section and using a roller too. The flat iron works but I am afraid of damage if I keep going over the same section every day.

Re: Cowlick in back of head

Talk to your hairdresser about this.  Maybe you could take a picture of it to show her.  The only time I had a cowlick was in high school when some idiot hairdresser gave me what was almost a man's haircut.  I'd never been there before and never went back.  I was on vacation with friends for the next week and had to get up each morning with that stupid cowlick sticking up for everyone to see.  It was the haircut that did it.  Maybe your hairdresser will know how to cut your hair to minimize that.

I had to finally part my hair on the opposite side of my head. I have that problem too I also have my hair real short now with longer hair in the front and shorter hair around the sides and up the back of my hair. I think the cut s called a crop pixie. Anyway , before I parted my hair to the other side I looked like a woodpecker with my cowlick sticking out it was crazy. I decided to let this style grow out and go back to my longer hair. I know how a cowlick can be annoying. But, there are styling techniques you can use like flat irons and something called crafting cream that I use that works for me.

The Perfector doesn't work on my cowlick (near crown, back of left side)
