I've bought a lot of beauty products off Ebay without any problems. I only buy from sellers with excellent feedback and who have been on ebay for a long time. I never buy from outside the USA. Yes, there are counterfeits on Ebay, Amazon, etc. With some it's pretty obvious by the picture. If they use a stock photo rather than a picture of the actual product, I look elsewhere. I buy from a few favorite sellers on Ebay and enjoy saving money. On a side note, I've been burned twice on ebay with other items. One was with a counterfeit dvd. The other was a piece of fake 'estate jewelry'.

I've had so few bad experiences with buying from eBay. The last time it happened it was a too-good-to-be-true price on a foundation I was wearing at the time. So I bought a bunch of them and it turned out the shades I got were not right. They were labelled okay but the colors were so way off that I couldn't wear most of the batch I bought...pitched most of them and wrote if off because it was past the 30-day return window by the time I took a close look at what I had gotten....oh well.![]()

It really is no risk as far as getting a refund, you will always get a refund, if you ask for one.

As luck would have it, my back up to my favorite Chanel foundation was the IT Confidence in a Compact. Now THAT'S been discontinued as well. I did just order an IT compact from ebay - shipping from the US - until I can find a new foundation.
In the last week I've purchased two drug store foundations on the basis of You Tubers opinions, however they were a complete disaster. Didn't matter what primer I used or none at all, they were a splotchy mess.
I'm beginning to think that my AM skin care may be to blame, so I'll try again with an alteration in my AM moistureizer and see if that helps.
Thanks to everyone who posted with cosmetics purchases from the Bay!

Oh my, I wouldn't risk it. Not because it might be expired but because it might be counterfeit and contain ingredients that could harm you. Counterfeit cosmetics have made the news quite a bit over the last few years. They may look identical on the outside but the contents are nothing like the real thing. Cheap quality, but also many contain dangerous contaminants. One mascara was even found to have traces of human feces! Allure and other beauty sites have shocking articles on what has been found in some counterfeits. I would never order from eBay. And anything I order from Amazon must say "sold by and shipped by Amazon" and not a third party or even fulfilled by Amazon.

There are items I will shop for on eBay, but never cosmetics. Just me...
...and me...

I have bought several cosmetics from Ebay. I bought several Joan Rivers lip gloss and lipsticks. I liked one color but could no longer get it from QVC, so anytime I saw that color on Ebay, I bought it.
I bought some Perlier when I could no longer get the scent I liked from HSN.
HSN stopped selling Chantal Ethocyn. So I was buying it from the DermStore and then they stopped carrying it. I searched and found it on Ebay. Then I read that someone bought it on Ebay and she thought the seller was selling fake stuff. Well, that cured me. I did not want to deal with fake stuff. So I have not bought any cosmetics from Ebay after that.
