No, I wouldn't copy that look.  It's too theatrical for me even at night. After all my years of buying and trying makeup I kinda know what works for me.  It is fun to experiment with new things, too. But that look belongs on people like Jlo.

I don't believe the look is just for celebrities.  Us mere mortals can enjoy the look too.

I think anyone can wear any kind of and how much makeup they choose. Anyone can offer an opinion,too.

@rochelleS

I am neutral leaning cool and my color palette of choice leans towards pinks blues and shades of purple as well as neutrals like cream and browns. Blue-reds and teals ( with more blue than green).  I have a new pink and white shirt that I plan to wear when we visit dad tomorrow.  Luckily I won't have to change color palettes if I ever decide to go gray.  Are there other cool colors you can wear?

No, I don't remember the pamphlets given with drugstore eye makeup. But my memory is sorely lacking. I do remember stickers on the back of eyeshadows that showed you where to apply the different colors.

I'm sorry about the vision issues that affect your life in so many ways. Do you have cataracts? I had an eye exam in January and the doctor told me I had little baby cataracts forming. I thought maybe I had dodged that bullet. My issue is my nose. Fragrance is my most favorite thing in the world and although I can still smell, my covid nose has a mind of its own so I never know if what I'm smelling is really what I'm smelling. Many of the perfumes I wear never seem to dry down. I still can smell the initial alcohol fragrance hours later. Yesterday I asked my husband to smell perfume I had on a few hours and tell me if he could still smell alcohol. He said no. I could.

Thank you @rochelleS, I still love my makeup h

obby and enjoy playing with it but I have to admit that ever since my heart attack I don't enjoy it as much 😕 only because I don't have as much energy. Lately I've been interested in some of my older products and looks. I've done a couple colourpop eye looks and I think I'm going to go with a Becca palette tomorrow. One of the first eyeshadow palettes I bought in 2020. I got in on the tail end of Becca cosmetics. From what I understand a lot of people miss it.

"Monkey fingers"... well I would hope my fingers don't look like a monkey's finger but I suspect that they do. I do not possess the agility in my hands that I used to. I don't think my makeup techniques have suffered but I do know that I feel it's more of a chore to apply makeup than it used to be. In fact, I've been thinking that maybe this is why some older women don't wear makeup or very little. Perhaps it's too painful or cumbersome to apply it (sigh).

Am I right in remembering that you have a cool undertone and silver hair? You could pull off those colors easily, in my opinion.  As you know you can apply them much more subtle than they appear in the compact. I don't know about the orange tone but definitely the pink, purple, and silver.

Not so much eyeshadow but I love to see a silver haired woman wearing color on her face. Mostly blush and lipstick. It just brightens up her face beautifully.   She looks vibrant and alive.

Have you tried wearing eyeliner like several have said they do? I don't but I have false lashes and to me the pinks and roses look fine with my blue eyes.

Hooded eyes equal no eyeliner for me unfortunately. I've seen videos on how to apply winged liner for hooded eyes but I just can't make it work for me.  Congrats on making it work for you though.

It might not look good on me either but I'm going to try it.  It's just make up, it'll wash off😊

@monicakm

I'm now light medium with neutral to cool undertones.  I used to be a true medium warm. I was a freckle faced brunette with a tremendous amount of red in my hair. Often referred to as a  redhead but actually not.

My color palette and clothing was strictly Autumnal. Beautiful colors of med to darker shades of taupe, browns, rust, orange, orange-reds, olive green, golds, etc. Dark teal, rich saturated coneflower blues and periwinkle were very wearable too. The Autumn colorway is no longer flattering or complimentary with my hair and skin. I used to look ghoulish in pink. Now I gravitate to cooler colors in both cosmetics and clothing. I like many shades of Grey, Grey toned taupes and dark blue, pink, clear or blue based reds(always loved my reds!) Optic white instead of cream and an anchor of black. Silver instead of gold. I'm less concerned with play and work clothes I wear around the house. Oh, aqua, turquoise,  celedon, seafoam shades from the past still are very wearable.

My eye colors have changed too. Now I lean towards cool Greys and taupey grey as mainstays. I still play with other colors but not like I used to. I can't do a thin eyeliner anymore so there's alot of smudging going on. Shadow stick/crayons have become great friends. Tubular mascara has elimated smudging and application boo boos leaving dark blobs on my lid or undereye that I can no longer see. I'm doing quite well with cream blushes.  I'm a bit scared of using too much with powder these days, in fear of looking clownish. I must share that screenshots have been a great tool in checking my makeup.

No cataracts.  Had surgery five years ago. Piece of cake, nothing to fear at all. I did have a reaction to the diuretic prescribed though. Felt like I had a hangover and wasn't invited to the party. Only two pills were prescribed and obviously omitted with the second surgery.

I have macular degeneration. Diagnosed in my 50's, which is young. Hereditary, said the doc. No clue as to where it came from. Everyone is gone.

Things started to slowly change about four years ago

This degenerative disease effects the central vision. I'm legally blind in my right eye. My peripheral vision is good but faces are hard if not impossible to see. You know when news photos block out a face for privacy purposes, well that's me. Can't see my face in the bathroom mirror or even my feet, lol. My left eye has been better but I'm now noticing changes. It's really slowing me down and the eye strain has increased alot. My sight is like a winter whiteout or heavy fog. Shapes with loss of detail.  Try putting Vaseline on your glasses. But my glass has always been half full and I constantly search for tips and workarounds in/for my daily life. My depth of field has been affected and that's pretty trippy.

The hardest part is asking for help. Especially being of the age where my focus should be helping others.

I truly understand being slowed down after heart surgery. So what! The only thing I can do fast now is talk! Just do what you love when you can and love it and everything even more. Joy and pleasure were never on a schedule. Your great sense of humor is a tremendous asset and will take you far. Your faith and fortitude are to be commended and will always find your Light.

I love fragrances too. Let's pick that up later as I've written a small book here.

XOXO to you and yours! ❤️❤️❤️

@rochelleS   I'm so sorry your eye sight is failing. That does make daily life and makeup difficult. Just do what you can do and enjoy.

@monicakm   Thanks. Yes, cool/neutral undertones. I prefer neutral makeup in my tinted moisturizers and other makeup because I've always liked starting w/ a blank canvas and neutral makeup shades does that for me...blocks out any redness, too. As far as colors on my eyes, I wear greyed lavenders, taupe that's more a stone shade that brown and sometimes just my concealer with a tightline and mascara.

I do wear blush and a brighter lip. I have to since my hair is almost white (just a little grey at the neckline where it hasn't turned white yet) and my skin got more fair as I got older. Almost everyone's skin gets a bit lighter as we lose melanin in hair and skin even if hair is dyed. That's why many women need to lighten up their hair color since it's too much contrast as they get older.

It's difficult to give color advice without seeing the person's face, hair, eye color. Most women know what looks good on them and what looks terribly wrong. It comes with experience and change as we age. Not all of us think of makeup as a hobby. It is fun and I enjoy it every day, but I don't want to purchase a lot of products that will stay in the drawer just to "play". I'm a "no makeup look gal and always have been. Yes, a few tweaks to brighten up a bit, but those shadow colors even applied lightly would be a huge focal point on my face and I prefer my makeup to be somewhat balanced....no one feature taking over.

Thanks for sharing all the new makeup you find and enjoy, but know that it's not for everyone and although it's fun to see new products, not everyone is willing to spend the money to try it.

Don't be offended. We all have a different look we enjoy. Play, have fun with it, try new colors and application. That's why I did makeup on others for decades. It was so enjoyable to see the results and how the women reacted to a new look.

@monicakm   No, never...I never mastered the application process and now at almost 70 years old, I feel it would look odd on me...I don't mind eye color but if I were to wear eye shadows they would be natural colors not a 'color'.

I see some women that can apply and wear shadows and they look very nice..just not on me.
