I went on a mission to find a concealer after having my passport photo taken this week. ![]()
I have no idea what I am doing. I don't know what tones I am and nothing seems to cover them. I think I'm fighting not just the dark circles which are a light black but shadows too.
I have done every online beauty try on and nothing seems to look perfect. I spent a day in Ulta once trying to find my concealer shade to help cancel the darkness with no luck. I think my skin tone and a corrector/concealer to match doesn't exist.
I remember my mother gave me something of hers years ago that literally wiped the darkness away and neither of us can remember what it was. We think it was a Cover Girl shade in a small pot that doesn't exist anymore.
I have bought several color correctors and concealers this week. I seem to be in the beige category rather than light that I have always done and I finally found one that seems to help but not completely.
Maybelline neutralizer with Cover Girl Buff Beige concealer is my best so far.
That seems to go with the beige, honey, and sand recommendations the online beauty scans think my skin is. I've never considered myself in the medium realm ever, but apparently I am completely blind.
Does anyone know where I should be looking if I am apparently a beige, honey, or sand person? What shades of concealer for really dark circles should I narrow myself into? The same tones or does a different color match or correct with these shades?
TIA. ๐

You best predictor is daylight
then determine if you have pink or yellow undertones
meaning do you look pink or sallow
Finally choose a concealer with your foundation
purchase them together so they have the same value/ intensity
believe it or not, you put your concealer on after your foundation
because this will reveal what needs elevating and highlighting
Remember, a little goes a long way and you should not use it as a base or
spackle

@katie1859 I have heard this, but doesn't the foundation then throw off the color correction? Or is that my issue? Trying to cover a color makeup isn't meant to fix without help?

What kind of foundation do you use? Since I've been usig IT CC Cream for a few years I no longer need a concealer.

I would go to a make up counter like at Sephora or Ulta or Nordstroms and ask the ladies there. Or any other prestige make up place. they can tellyou better than you trying 100 different products that will be mentioned here. No offense to anyone here--but you need an in -person consultation, IMO. I went to Ulta and had them to tell me what shade skin tone I was --am a light warm-- and they did that by matching the foundation to my neck and not my face. They were right on too.

My best ones so far:
cle de peau...Stick very excellent coverage
Sisley... photo cernes eclat...shade 1 this one as additional magic because it contains an ingredient that tightens and provides moisture at the same time!

If you are a person with OLIVE in your complexion, I understand foundation and concealer are very tricky to find.
Reddit has an entire section dedicated to olive beautified.
I have been season typing women who post to ask, and Iโm finding the olive-containing ones are typed as everything under the sun.
If you want to study what they are saying, go to Reddit and choose a user name and go for it.
In addition, these ladies are referred to as "neutral" and oh yes I have tried to type them!

Thank you @LTT1 . I am Italian, but easily burn so I think that's exactly what's throwing me. I am on my way. Thank you so much! ![]()
