Oh, macadamias have even more fat than cashews.  And I love them even more!😍😂

Re: ComPact 2020 -- Moderate March

Don't understand body bags. If somebody passes away, don't we call a mortuary? I'm definitely not buying those.
We have the virus confirmed in Co. So I know it's coming.
My sister says they are getting ready at the hospital.
She works at the largest in town.
We are overstocking toilet paper and soaps and some canned goods. I have bleach all the time.

That's about the best we can do. I will stay away from some large places. I guess I'm low risk and daughter is at higher risk. Lungs and heart are already compromised. I refuse to panic. That won't change anything.
Do people believe this can run into water supply? We would all have it by now If that were true. HMM.....

Well my DH is home today. Very unusual for him! We are just going to hang loose.

Everyone is ok here. Hope you are all doing well too.
Let's remember to wash hands a lot. Stay away from sickos and we will be ok, I think. We do that Anyway.😁

Brisk out for the day..... Hang loose everybody!!!

Re: ComPact 2020 -- Moderate March

I treated myself to a new set of towels--from my closet.😉  I've been wincing for the last few months whenever I used the ones I had because they'd gotten so rough.  Otherwise, they're still in great shape--no holes or raggedy edges.  I have had a few other new sets of towels sitting around for years and finally figured I need to use them!  I probably have enough to last me the rest of my life, so what am I saving them for?  These will make excellent dog towels.

I also am putting together yet another donation bag.  I thought I didn't have any more clothes to get rid of, but I found some that I had to admit to myself I wasn't going to wear anymore.  I'm over the long tunic-type tops and haven't worn any of my long sweaters for a couple of years.  I just don't like the way I look in them anymore.  Another fad from my fantasy life.

Added a few books to the donation pile too.  I always had it in mind I would reread them, but I don't really read books anymore for many reasons.  My mother got to be like that too.  Funny how much I'm becoming like my mother.  It will take me a while to part with too many more, though.  I have to go through things in stages.

Speaking of Costco...

I mentioned the run on bottled water and toilet paper as seen here on the forum.  BH rolled his eyes at me.

We hadn't been at Costco for a while so I suggested we check this out.  He ended up going there just to pick up some fish and green beans.  The store hadn't yet opened but the parking lot was full and a large crowd had assembled near the entrance.

Once inside, BH noticed that shoppers skipped the regular carts and went for the pallets on wheels.  There was no toilet paper in the warehouse and people were hunting down Costco associates to ask about the next shipment.

What was left of the bottled water was being wheeled to the check-out lines.  BH got behind a guy who was explaining to the cashier that he had been stockpiling bottled water and toilet paper.

And body bags.

BH rolled his eyes at the kid boxing up the guy's purchases, and the kid rolled his eyes at BH.

Body bags.  It's 1350 again.  Bring out your dead!

@just bee I just don't understand why anyone would stock up on body bags. I wouldn't even know where to buy one!

OK, I just Googled body bags. There is a BodyBagStore.com. Who would'a thunk it?

@Eager2Learn

Hey, I never thought we'd be buying toilet paper online, but BH ordered it from Amazon this week.

We live in interesting times.

Thanks for your support ladies. I know you all have or will travel down this road one day.

@Brisky

Ah yes, the guilt.  When it first became apparent that my mother needed some sort of help, I was going round and round about what to do.  My sisters lived out of state and were prepared to put her in assisted living, without, what appeared to me, a second thought or any feeling of remorse.  My mother didn't want to burden us, but she also didn't want to leave her home.  I was willing to care for her in her home, but I didn't want to infringe on the OG's life either.  He told me something that stuck with me ever since:  "Do whatever you feel is necessary so that after she's gone you won't feel guilty."

Unfortunately, there often comes a time that no matter what you do (or don't do) you end up feeling some guilt.  It's something that's an individual call and that's different for each of us.  And when you look back after the fact, you'll always find something that you think you should have done differently.  But you can only do the best you can at the time.  ❤️

Now those are some wise words.

Unfortunately, there often comes a time that no matter what you do (or don't do) you end up feeling some guilt.

And so are those.

I had a dream about my mother this morning, then woke up and started second-guessing my decisions all over again.  She died in 2008.

And when you look back after the fact, you'll always find something that you think you should have done differently.  But you can only do the best you can at the time.

And this is how you have to exist or else you'll go a little crazy.

Do you realize how many get influenza every year and succumb?  Suddenly no one thinks about that.  It's all about the current "crisis."

Until the next big crisis.

Like I said on another post, I'm with Doris Day.  Que sera, sera.

When I think of all the horrible things that can happen to a living creature, COVID-19 doesn't seem like such a bad way to go.

H_ll's bells, I work in a hospital and, frankly, this virus is the last thing I worry about.

@geezerette I'm certainly hoping that none of us come down with it. I'm starting to become a bit more cautious though, I'm 70 and on immune suppressants.

@Eager2Learn

I'm almost there myself.  But the immune suppressants are definitely a minus for you, so I can see why you'd be concerned--about catching anything, frankly.

I do think some form of this is bound to catch up with most of us.  Just like most of us get colds and flu from time to time.  I just am trying to be careful when I'm out, but I do that anyway this time of year with everyone coughing and sneezing.  If we can just hold off until they get a better idea of how to deal with this, I don't think it will be any more of a problem than the flu, which can be dangerous to those with compromised immune systems as well.  Just remember that the majority of those that get this end up fine.  Even the ones that end up in the hospital.  Some people only have minor symptoms.

@geezerette

@Eager2Learn

The voice of reason speaks!  Er, types!

We could all get hit by a bus tomorrow.  Especially me, since our public transportation system has been racking 'em up left and right.

We've seen bubonic plague, smallpox, Ebola, SARS, AIDS, rabies, every strain of influenza and more.  H_ll, New Mexico has cases of hantavirus, bubonic plague and West Nile every year!

People are germy.

I think the whole "body bag" thing put this into perspective.  And it confirms my belief that we need more mental health care because it's a growing population.

However, if you voice that opinion or minimize someone's concerns, you're the bad guy.  No one is saying that we shouldn't be aware, but this run on toilet paper and bottled water is absurd.  Yesterday I heard Kroger is rationing hand sanitizer and cold and flu meds.

At work, they've installed a hand sanitizer station in our lobby.  Considering our particular patient population I'm more concerned that they'll be drinking the stuff.

Just keepin' it real.

@geezerette

And this goes back to putting things in their proper perspective.  I think we have to admit to ourselves that we have changed.  We have evolved.  Life is different now -- much different than it was when we were 20, 30, 40 or 50.

Our tastes have changed.  Our needs have changed.  Our priorities have changed.  Our habits have changed.  Our interests have changed.

How we look at time has changed.  It's moving fast and we just don't have the energy or inclination to get things done that really don't need to be done.

I'm keeping my things-to-do list manageable.

There's only so much we can do, eat, wear, read, see, experience.  Choose what makes you comfortable and content.

Re: ComPact 2020 -- Moderate March

So true just bee. When I was younger what I wanted in my life is so different now. I like a simple life. Just hanging loose and not living for tomorrow. I want to live each day and appreciate this day.
I try to not over think my mistakes in life. I learned a lot from them. I don't want to dwell in them.
I have succeeded in my life in areas too. Seems like we forget our successes much easier. I wonder why we forget what we got right? Hmm
Why do we self sabotage. When does that help any of us? Just thinking.....
