@BExplorer wrote:@just bee I had the same thing with my new refrigerator. The store called me the day it was to be delivered to tell me they had to reorder it as it was dented when they unboxed it.
So they delivered the new one. After installation I noticed the sides were dented on this one. I called the store and they offered to order yet another one, or they would give me a $90 refund. I opted for the $90 since two out of two were dented. What were the chances the third one would be any better? Ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm glad you are getting settled. Waving to all 👋 Compactors, you are a very motivating bunch. 😊
And somewhere, in the back of my head, I keep hearing: If the thing lasts five years you'll be lucky...
Our old fridge was 25 years old and it was going strong. Why can't we produce quality anymore?
But I agree -- you're all motivators!
It might make it five years, possibly even without any repairs. After that, who knows? Some appliances seem to last a little longer than others, although they all seem to need some sort of repair within the first few years.
If things are going to break down so quickly, they need to be less expensive. Conversely, I wouldn't mind spending more if they lasted at least 20 years with minimal repair costs. And easily available parts for that long, too! (Another pet peeve.)
They need to start teaching kids to save money and, instead of an IRA, to start putting their allowance into a fund for future appliances. Sure, you're twelve and you're not thinking about major appliances right now, but maybe you should.

It seems that mama possum has given birth. She's curled up with some teeny babies that S/O wanted to show me. I said to leave them alone (I don't want her to abandon them). Hopefully when they get old enough to hold on, she'll take them somewhere else.
In the meanwhile, we'll have to be very careful. I don't need a very protective possum attacking my dog.
Ooh, baby possums are so cute!🥰
Mama possum? Not so much...😶

Well, we just got the all-clear for out-of-staters to come visit us again--except from hot spots, that is. So ya'll can come on down to check us out.
Oh, wait. You can't leave your state. 😈😢😁
Good one!
Admittedly that was a low blow. 😠
I just couldn't resist.😈

Homemade masks are a cr@pshoot. I ordered some and had some given to me. One is too small--maybe appropriate for a ten year old. Another is way too big. Then there were a couple that were baby-bear size: just right.
But it's still hard hard to breathe with them on and my glasses fog a bit. I also can't figure out how to keep them on without touching them.
I don't know how effective they are for the virus, but I've already found out they do nothing for allergies. My nose keeps running underneath! 😦😷🤧

@geezerette I know! Have you seen those rows of teeth? They frighten me.

Box of books #2: These were given to me by our previous neighbor when they were moving years ago. The box contained 28 paperbacks and 3 hardbacks. I haven't read a single one!
S/O and I looked through them this morning. He kept 2 paperbacks, I kept none at all.
The rest will be donated to the Kairos Prison Ministry library when they re-open.

Many times! I live in the country on a fairly large piece of property. I have oodles of the little darlins around here, along with armadillos.
The smaller possums are pretty cute with their little faces. But the adults always look like they're smiling--evilly, with those teeth!👿 They do eat a lot of bugs, among them ticks, so I have a "live and let live" attitude about them generally. But I'd don't like any of my pets getting too close to them. Their eyesight isn't the greatest so they don't always get out of the way quickly when my dog spies one.
I had one get behind my air conditioner one night. The dog was going nuts about something, it was pitch black so I couldn't see a thing when I shined the flashlight, and I thought she was crazy. Finally, I peered between the a/c unit and the house, and there were two little beady eyes staring back at me. I guess I don't have to say that made me jump back! 😱😄 I thought it might be injured, but I wasn't about to mess with it, so I just left it alone. It was gone the next morning, thank goodness.😓
Something about those naked rat tails they have get to me...😬

@geezerette I think I'll pass. It's a funny thing, but after staying home for 2 months, I find I'm reluctant to risk getting the bug now!

@geezerette Lordy, ain't that the truth. We've had a possum outbreak in my area lately. One of my neighbors woke in the night to find one calmly eating her cat's kibbles. In her kitchen. The cat has been hiding every since. Little terrorists.
