I've begun to hate the word "hacked" in the last few years.  Is nothing safe and private anymore?  No, wait, you don't have to answer that.  I already know.  What gets me is that even if I don't have any internet "presence" or own a cell phone or credit card, if I do any type of business with any company or medical person, my personal information can still be stolen.  Ticks me off no end.

Last week was a particularly disappointing time for me in several ways.  And when I get down, everything just floods in and I feel like I'm an alien.  Nobody thinks like I do.  At least, nobody under 80 years old does.

Makes me wonder why I bother to struggle to eat right.  ☹️

And on that cheery note...😆

Oh, I hear ya!

I just sent off an email to my sister about all the failed policies in this state that do not address the real problem.

If I provided any details here I'd definitely be banned.

Re: ComPact 2020 – Fill in the _____ February

Isn't it mandarin season?  Every year at this time (I think) Kroger always has some brand of mandarin oranges that are delicious.  The first couple of bags at the beginning of the season are juicy and sweet.  Later in the season, not so much.  And they're always on sale.

But I haven't seen the same brand this year.  Nor have I seen any brand that has been on sale.  I'm just finishing up some that I bought some time ago that are okay, but not the same.  Not as sweet or as  juicy.  Maybe it was a bad year for oranges?

Re: ComPact 2020 – Fill in the _____ February

@rnmom @aprilskies I need a Fit February. I need to be more active. Maybe it will help my tired mind. I'm so mentally exhausted, I'm not in any mood to exercise. But I know that's exactly the opposite of what I should do. I'm inspired by you.

@just bee @geezerette LOL to "WTF" & frozen pizza! Eek, reading the ingredients makes that sound like the worst tasting pizza ever.

I ended January in a declutter. I don't know why, well, I do know why. I was running out of room in my drawers so I pulled out some tighter clothes that I wasn't wearing. I was holding onto them in the hopes that I would wake up skinner one morning. I had a few small piles in my room. I finally decided to get rid of those piles and the several things hanging in my closet that I never reach for in the last couple of years.

I also had an epiphany. I was going to donate a bunch of makeup and brushes to Project Beauty Share. But I heard that Mother Teresa would encourage people that wanted to help her ministry in Calcutta to find their own Calcutta, in the people and places where they are. I thought of a family who had lost their husband/father several years ago. The woman has 4 daughters! So this weekend I decluttered the items I wasn't using and were able to be sanitized. It was a lot of items that I picked up on sale from Charlotte Tilbury (last year's beauty vault), a small Viseart eyeshadow palette, some ColourPop and a bunch of makeup brushes. I was holding onto the Charlotte Tilbury stuff because they were so high end, but I really didn't have strong feelings for. Or I plain didn't know how to use it. What is the purpose of Wonder Glow?? I put it on and don't see any difference. That Viseart palette was supposed to be the be all end all for me. But turns out, I like other shadows better. As good as it's supposed to be, it was just ok for me. Why hold onto another neutral palette? And all my brushes. I only gave them the ones that weren't all scuffed up. I still have more...

I finished a mini lipstick in January. Also finished the mini Tarte blush from a prior sephora birthday gift. It was a good month for using up stuff. I also bought a tinted lip balm that was on my wish list. It was a one in one out for lip products. Oh, I also gave away all the mini mascaras I got from a Lashstash kit. I was layering them under my favorite Essence mascara to use them up. No sense in forcing myself to use them. I gave them to the family. Phew it was a relief to release all that.

Re: ComPact 2020 – Fill in the _____ February

@geezerette  @just bee -  Thanks, I did truly enjoy that one hot slice of pizza. I would have eaten at least one more if it hadn't been so late at night. Pizza is probably actually my favorite food after chocolate so I'm sure I will be having some again.

Yes, we did have leftovers, and I love leftover pizza for breakfast, even though I usually heat mine up. But I didn't have any. The kids and hubby did and will actually finish the last of it off this morning.

Cuties?

Cuties

As in, when is a Cutie a Mandarin and when is it a Clementine?

Cuties

The season is November through April.  And I haven't had any citrus lately so I should go find some.  I had disappointing Juici apples, two Fujis that were rotten to the core (literally) and three inedible avocados -- also rotten.  So annoying!  We wanted avocado with our adovada! Woman Mad

Until this week I was having pretty good luck with produce.  What happened?

I have to buy new apples today so I'll take a look at the citrus and see what's in stock.  I'm pretty sure Cuties are still available.

That's wonderful!  And over the years I have come to agree with Mother Teresa.  For years I donated to big national and international organizations.  Then I woke up and realized that New Mexico is Calcutta.

This state depends on the kindness of strangers so I've been directing the funds to local organizations.  I still give to a few outside NM, but if there's a local chapter, that's where the money will go.

But what you did was even better.  You cut out the middle man and did the most good.  And that's how it should be done. Heart

And it's mutually beneficial.  It's got to feel good -- not only to give, but to get all that space! Woman LOL

We all need to be more active.  Punxsutawney Phil says spring is just around the corner and I think he's right.  We had sandhill cranes over our heads yesterday.  They must have seen the same news story.

We need to keep WGD active, both physically and mentally.  We take him with us as much as possible and he's able to go into more and more stores.  Yesterday we broke his previous record of 8 city parks in one day.  We went to 9 and would have had 10 but we didn't realize we missed one until we got home and found it on the map.

All I know is the more active I am, the better I sleep.  Gotta stay limber -- physically and mentally.

Close, but no cigar.  They're Halos.  And I just found them this morning.  I bought a bag, but they don't look promising.   Weird size--larger than normal, almost like they're trying to pass off something else as a mandarin.  And they only had two bags, which were in two boxes which tells me they didn't get the quantities they normally get.  Usually they have a separate aisle made up of orange boxes, like sweet potatoes near Thanksgiving.

The Cuties are at Walmart.  And I don't like them.  Every time I've had them they're drier and not as sweet than the Halos.  I've found much of Walmart's produce to be just not quite as good as Kroger.  At least here.  Not that either one has anything to write home about.  If it's available, it's often so old and wrinkled I think I'd be better off eating the produce bags instead of the produce.

@Oshare-girl

Let me echo @just bee's response.  I came to the same realization some time ago as well.  We don't have some of the specialized organizations in my small town, but I've been giving my donations to our small animal shelter instead of Goodwill.

We used to give a lot of our used things to people we knew and they were delighted to get any of it.  But in the last few years even though they're still as needy as ever, they haven't wanted our stuff.  I don't know if it's because credit cards are more readily available, or the rise of "rent to own" and dollar stores, but they'd rather take what money they have and buy new.  So I now just give my good used things to the shelter and throw the dubious stuff in the trash.

I did give a lot of the OG's clothing to the Goodwill simply because there was so much of it, but even in our tiny town, the amount of old clothes (that looked more like rags to me) they had piled up from donations was mind boggling.  So they don't need any more of my stuff anyway.

However, I find myself getting closer to my goal of not donating anything (stuff-wise) to anybody.  Just because I won't have anything more than what I'm using myself! 🤞
