Re: ComPact 2020 – Autonomous August

@Brisky

I've been talking about Wyoming for years.

New Mexico is an enormous state.  Population: A tad over 2 million.

Wyoming has less than 600,000.

The good news is that's roughly the population of Albuquerque.  But this concerns me.  Last time I looked, Wyoming had 440,000.  Must mean people are moving there.

I wonder if they're Californians.

@just bee

Hey, did you mean to say it's okay for a person from New Mexico to add to Wyoming's population, but not a person from California? I'm not being touchy, I just don't get it.

@KaySD

It depends on which person from New Mexico.  And which one from California.

We moved here from California in 1995 because our company didn't want to do business in the Bay Area anymore and we didn't want to live in the Bay Area anymore.  We didn't move here with the intention of turning the state into what we'd left.

Didn't have to.  New Mexico is already very similar.  But many Californians tend to "transform" other states.  Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada...

Now they're focusing on Texas.

If that's the case, you should fit in quite nicely here.  Hang around -- you'll see! Heart

Well I haven't really been compacting this past week, at least with regards to body products. I bought that box of goat milk products at the auction last week and today I just placed an order from BBW and picked up a few remnants left over from their semi annual sale. I had a gift card so it didn't cost me anything, and I just felt like buying something I guess. I haven't really bought anything fun in literally months, only groceries, groceries and more groceries.

I thought I would be happy with fragrance free lotion and just body sprays to fragance myself with but nope, I find that I'm missing the scented body lotions. So I bought some. Actually I think I bought 8. And 3 more spray fragrances. Oops. Oh well. I really feel like I need SOMETHING to enjoy right now.

Still continuing with Hep and I actually lost another 5lbs last month, so I'm at a total of 45lbs lost. My clothes are getting really baggy but I won't order anything unless I can try it on, and I won't spend an hour or two in the thrift store with a mask on trying on clothes. Actually, I don't know if they'll even allow it, I know Walmart had their fitting rooms closed. So I just put a belt on and wear really baggy clothes.

I'm fine with where my weight is now, and don't feel the need to lose any more. I didn't actually think I'd get here, but I'm thrilled that I did. But I am still continuing to try to eat healthier. We went to a small get together yesterday and rather than eating a hamburger and chips I ate cut up fruit, chicken breast and some macaroni salad. No cake, doritoes, chips. I still do have that stuff as a treat once in a while, but I definitely am trying to eat healthier most of the time.

I haven't been exercising a ton, working out on the elliptical maybe once a week, but I try to walk several times a day at work on break. And I ordered some vitamins too from iherb to try to keep my immune system strong. I had a physical this past week, it had been over 2 1/2 years and doctor said everything looked good. Of course she ordered lab work and a mammogram, which I may or may not do. But I'm feeling pretty good about my health overall.

@rnmom

Holy cannoli -- 45 pounds???  That's amazing!  And it sounds like you're doing it right.  No fad diets or crazy exercise equipment.  Just by making smarter food choices and moving a little more.  That's what will keep the weight from coming back.

Sounds like you took control of the situation and made a few changes that have really made a difference that you can see and feel.

Positive changes in behavior, smarter choices.  And it didn't take that long to lose the weight, did it?

Well, how cool is that? Heart

@just bee -yep, 45lbs. It's taken me not quite 7 months, I started at the first of the year. It is pretty cool, huh? I'm pretty proud of myself and definitely feel better and I'm so glad that I got off my behind and actually got it done. Now to keep it off, that is the  REAL challenge.

@rnmom, great job on your weight loss! Sounds like you conquered that battle. Right now there isn't many fun places to shop! Guess belts will come in handy.
I just where black capris and white long sleeve Tee shirts and tennis shoes most the time. It's my go to wardrobe. Sandals in summer. I like simple things.
I am not fashionable☺ I really don't care about what's in... I like comfort!

Yep, people have gotten harder to deal with where we are at too. People are fed up. Misinformation from all sides. It's just strange out there. Understatement! I think and hope things will improve. I have been saying this for so long now... Maybe I don't believe it. Well caves woman is still possible, but what would happen to my pups and cat? DH and Children? I must see this through till the end. Whatever happens in November, our Country will decide and I will deal with it.
That's what I do. Do the best I can do..... I really don't know what will happen.
Right now if it's not knocking at my front door, I am not going to go out looking for Troubles😒
Hange loose everybody or at least try to!
Brisk out for now...Take care!

@Brisky -Thank you! Actually I haven't conquered the battle yet, keeping it off is half the battle for me. I've lost weight many, many times in my life, but I always gain it back. Now I must try to keep it off for good.

I'm very casual at home too, shorts or sweats, t-shirts or sweatshirts. However I do wear casual dress clothes at work and that's where I'm needing the belts. My dress pants/casual pants are all very baggy. But it's better than having them super tight, which is how they all fit last year.

@just bee - And that's the crazy part isn't it? You move away from someplace because there's something about it that you don't like, but then you just try to turn your new place into what it was that you wanted to leave.

I think that's how it is with the whole country right now. How many people came to America because they didn't like what was happening in their own country, but now they're trying to turn it into a socialist/communist country like the one they left?

@rnmom

And what about those who were born here and don't seem to understand that they're supporting tyranny over liberty?

There was yet another protest downtown last night.  This group was supposedly protesting police brutality and Operation Legend.  At one point during the protest, they took a knee to honor an 18 year-old from Santa Fe.  This kid was a basketball star at his high school and had planned to play for the Lobos at UNM.

Well, that's not going to happen now because he was shot and killed the other night.  By a police officer?  No.  By a federal officer working with Operation Legend?  No.

He was shot by a 16 year-old at a party.

Which would explain why federal officers are here in New Mexico.  It's the wild west.

A 16 year-old has a gun and I can't buy a gun anywhere in the freaking state because there aren't any available.  There were some available in a downtown gun shop a while back but the "peaceful protesters" who destroyed many of our businesses looted that gun shop and took off with the inventory.

Speaking of protests, we took the dog to a park the other day and we saw several people sitting and staring.

"Is this a cult?," BH asked.

There was sign inviting others to join their protest.  We didn't stick around long, but a government van pulled up and a "One Albuquerque" tent was set up on the grass.  Nice that our city has the time and energy to assist with protests but doesn't have the time to address the issues that are driving residents out of the state.

Re: ComPact 2020 – Autonomous August

@KaySD

Just want to add something to my previous post.  A similar thing happened when I was working in Silicon Valley.  There would be a company with its own corporate culture and then they'd hire someone who would bring in all his/her cronies from the previous company and in no time at all the new company would have all the same problems that the old company had.

This reminds me of horsetail worms.  The larvae get inside an insect, like a cricket, and make it suicidal.  For reasons the cricket cannot understand, it is compelled to jump into a body of water.  At that point, fully developed worms exit the cricket's body and it dies.

This is not a myth.  I saw this happen to a child of the earth (Jerusalem cricket) on our patio a few years ago.  I can't get the image out of my head.  And we had a guest from California.  He ended up moving to Nevada.  The worms were enough to keep him from relocating here.

@just bee, that is sick! Your tax dollars are paying for those tents! I hear they provide outhouses too. I can't go further or I will be banned....
