Re: ComPact 2019 – Jest January!

And while we're on the subject...

The reason for "Jest January" is an attempt to infuse some humor into the month.

A lot of us failed miserably when we tried to find fun.  My plan for January is to think and act "lighter."  December felt way too heavy.

So if that means posting a few silly jokes or pictures, so be it.

I'll start the year with this one:

Q: What do you call a large dog that meditates?

A: Aware wolf.

Ok, I've got one too:

Q: What kind of tree can you hold in your hand?

A: A palm tree!

Here's to more fun in January!

Re: ComPact 2019 – Jest January!

Happy New Year everyone.  All I can say is that I hope I do better this year.  I signed up for no-buy January with Frugalwoods.  If it works then I'll try my best to continue.  I spent a lot of money on things I didn't need in 2018.  The only things I know I'll need this month are fresh fruits and veggies.  I need to use up my pantry & freezer stock.

The only toiletry I'll need this year is toothpaste.  I even have enough toilet paper to last all of 2019!  This is embarrassing.

I'll try to continue on my health journey.  I need to lose around 15 pounds but more importantly, I need to get fit.  I used to walk 3 miles a day, now after half mile I want to give up.

Good luck everyone with your goals.

Happy New Year. I just tossed a Laura Geller blush that I loved but is too old. At least, I haven't caught anything from it. I hope to lose a few pounds this month as part of the decluttering. I have some drawers in front of me now to see what needs to go.

I started the New Year with my usual practice of going to MyFico.com to get all my official Fico scores for comparison at the same time. The rest of the year, I get my TransUnion and Experian FICO scores from my American Express and Bank of America cards. For the credit tracking, I use CreditKarma but the scores are not FICO.

We've made a lot of progress foodwise since we started focusing on soups and stews.  It's a great way to use up what's in the pantry and fridge.  All the veggie pieces that don't go into the soup or stew go into a Ziploc and then into the freezer to make vegetable stock later.

Soup is a great way to get more vegetables into your diet.  We made one last night with lots of beans, lentils, blackeyed peas, chicken, pork and vegetables.  Put a lot of rainbow chard in the soup and what didn't fit in the pot went into the freezer bags with the other saved veggie pieces.

If a pot of soup sound like it's too much, it can always go into smaller containers and be frozen for future use.

@KonaKat

I've been using my LG Baby Cakes Blush palette since March 2010 and I don't think they ever go bad.  They do get discontinued, however, and that's a shame because there wasn't a bad color in the bunch.

I need to start thinking about going to sleep because I work tonight, but we're in the middle of a blizzard and I just want to watch the snow.

Oh!  Did you hear about the cheese factory that exploded in France?  There was nothing left but de Brie.
