I’m curious—do you still use Konjac sponges?

I ask because I’m highly disappointed in the ones I’ve gotten lately.  My last order was sometime last year and I got a set of five (a brand I haven’t tried) that were highly rated.  Although I like them, one ended up dissolving into a shredded mess after just a few weeks of use.  Which made the set more expensive, not to mention unreliable.

So I opened the EcoTools sponges I also had bought, and I was highly disappointed in those too!  About 2/3 the size of what I had been getting and no string.  I’ve used four of the six of those I ordered, and just yesterday (again after only a few weeks of use) one of those shredded in my hands while I was using it!

Have you experienced anything like this?  I’m about ready to finish up using the ones I have and then forget about them and go back to using a plain old washcloth. 😤

@geezerette

I rescued three from the house but I never used one in the hotel.  Two months without a sponge, pure grace, wine, decent tea and a DVR.  How did I manage? Woman Wink

I should pull one out and start using it.  I noticed the EcoTools looks skimpier.  I have an Earth Therapeutics sponge, too.  Maybe this is another trend that's fading.

I'm curious now.  Maybe I'll open one up just to see if it self-destructs. Woman LOL

@just bee -Thanks for the update! I'm sorry to hear about the delay in getting the rebuild started though. I sure wouldn't be happy about that.

I have a feeling you had a different name back then.  A lot has happened while you were gone.

What made you leave and what made you come back?

Either way, we're happy you stopped by and we hope you'll stick around! Woman Very Happy

Re: ComPact 2019 – Jaded July

We cooked last night: Salmon and asparagus.  Our first week in the rental was all take-out -- something we rarely do.  First there was delivery pizza, then came take-out Chinese and take-out New Mexican.

I think we have enough of our kitchen in place so we can get back to normal.  We couldn't restore our green enameled cast iron Dutch oven so BH replaced it with a new red one.  We roasted some potatoes last night in the oven (didn't have one in the hotel) and I just have to say that it's been interesting living with different appliances.

BH had a good point.  When you buy a house you really don't know what to expect.  In our case, there was no model.  We didn't know what the house would look like until they built it.  Not the smartest way to do it.

Now we've been in this rental and we've had the chance to "try it on."  If you buy a car you can test drive it.  It's a shame you can't do that with a house.

Re: ComPact 2019 – Jaded July

@geezerette

I used an EcoTools sponge this morning with BH's Cerave cleanser (that he still hasn't used) and it does seem like a different sponge.  Not bad -- just different.

Let's see if it self-destructs.  Don't really have an ideal place to store it in the bathroom.  It's a pedestal sink.  Haven't had one of those in a very long time.  The nice thing about it is that I'm much closer to the bathroom mirror so I can see what I'm doing.

Our house had deep vanities in the bathrooms and I always felt that I was a mile away from the mirrors.  Which is probably a safe distance.

The fridge and stove/oven here in the rental are Maytag products.  The washer (front load) and dryer are also Maytag.  And they're in the kitchen.

This is a very quiet washer.  So quiet I thought it was broken.

We will have to replace all our appliances when we return to our house.  Better start saving that spare change now. Woman Tongue

ETA

Oh, yeah -- and the dishwasher, too.  It's just that we're so used to washing everything by hand I hardly think about dishwashers.

I think one of the things I like about this house is that it was built in the '80s.  My mother bought a house in the '80s (built in the '60s but totally redone before she bought it) and I swear she had the same kitchen cabinets.  Also, almond was the trend in the '80s.

These aren't '80s appliances, but they are almond.  Or French vanilla.  Whatever they are, they aren't white.  The microwave is white.

I'm analyzing everything.  The walls, the floors, the countertops.  We'll need to make decisions.  All I know is I don't want those multicolor granite counters like the ones in the hotel.

I'm even walking around the neighborhood looking at bricks.  I'm considering a metal roof.

My head hurts.

I noticed Maybelline Full 'N Soft washable mascara was on sale at Target today.  I hadn't shopped at Target in years (even though it's conveniently located), but once I discovered they carry Lumene I started shopping there again.

I like the order-online-pickup-at-store feature.  So there were four mascaras at my Target and I ordered two.  Normally I'd buy a year's supply at the sale price but this time I didn't.  And this was a better than usual sale price ($4.86!!!).  But maybe I'm still annoyed at how many beauty items I had to pitch after the fire and I don't want to stockpile ever again -- who knows?

BH had bought that Raw Sugar body wash when we were at the hotel and I'm not having a problem with it.  I noticed Target was having a buy-one-get-one-25%-off sale.  Uh-oh.  So many choices.

I ended up buying one at regular price (25 ounces for $6.99) instead of stocking the ones that were on sale.  I picked up the avocado and cactus pear moisturizing wash.  It wasn't on sale but the ones that were weren't the moisturizing formula.

My total for three products: $18.03.

I figure I can pick them up this weekend when I go water the yard.

Seriously, if this Cerave facial cleanser works out I may even stop ordering Paula's Choice.  Don't panic.  This could just be a phase.
