@just bee -I'd also love to be able to downsize and be mobile, but that's not happening any time soon either, because we do still have 2 young kids at home. Someday, when they're grown and out of the house we can sell this place, move to a smaller place and maybe get a nice travel trailer. That way we will still have a home base, but we can take off anytime we want to. Best of both worlds.

I get a little depressed thinking about it because I tell myself I'm not making any changes until the World's Greatest Dog is gone.  And then that thought makes me ill.

Today we're buying a new bag of kibble.  I've finally convinced BH that the dog is a senior citizen and may need a different formula.

He will eat grass and I can't see it as just an upset stomach.  I see "the end is near!" and I dread what's coming.

Re: ComPact 2019 – Accountable April

I never shop at Walgreen's. It's just not really convenient for me. If I do go to a drug store it's Rite Aid because it's really convenient for me to stop there on my way home from work. There prices are only fair, but if I buy makeup it's usually buy one get one half off so the prices work out ok in the end.

I get my Covergirl Aquasmooth foundation there because I can't find it online. Sometimes I will look for Wet N Wild items there too, but it seems like they are usually sold out of a lot of those items.

@just bee -I hear ya about dreading losing the beloved dog. I still have a few years left before I really have to start worrying, but the dogs will be gone before the kids will be, at least the 2 big ones will be. The little rat mutt might be around for a while longer, we're not sure how old she is and little dogs live longer usually anyway.

I'm glad you filled out the Walgreen's survey. I think it was awful darn nice of you that you didn't request a refund, at least they should know what a mess your purchase was.

The wet n wild single shadows like Nutty and Brulee are usually not available.  I can't help think those are items that are easily "pocketed."

Well, he is more than welcome to stick around -- we have a new vacuum cleaner now.  He's killed the last two.  Between the sand and the hair...

That's the advantage of the smaller dog.  I've met 20 year-old chihuahuas!  But I have a dental appointment coming up and I dread it because my hygienist raises Irish Wolfhounds and every time I see her she's lost another prematurely.

I couldn't do it.  As much as I love Boxers, I won't have any more.  They just have too many health issues.

The funny thing about the shipment -- and I noted it in the survey -- is that I bought the rubbing alcohol at Walgreens to fix the shadows and it cost more than the shadows.

But what a neat trick!

Re: ComPact 2019 – Accountable April

It was 83 on Tuesday and 54 on Thursday.  We had snow on the Sandias yesterday.  I'm hoping for some rain today so I don't have to water the yard.

Oh, and I better write that check and get my taxes mailed.  Don't wanna end up like Capone.

Re: ComPact 2019 – Accountable April

So here's a question:

Now that I have all this shadow, why do I continue to use my ancient e.l.f. palettes that I bought for $1.49 at drugstore.com?

e.l.f.

I have the one (top left) and the one (bottom right) and they're really great.  So tiny, but they still live!

@just bee

It always amazes me how much we all have in common.

About the mobile thing: just don’t wait too long if you think you want a change.  Someday you’ll get to the point of “shoulda, coulda, woulda” and don’t want to have too many regrets.  The Old Geezer was the mobile one in our family (must be a guy thing) and that’s why we always moved every few years.  I, on the other hand, need a home—even if I hate it.  He always laughed at me when we did travel because every time we stopped at a new motel/hotel I had to “nest”.  I need all my things in just the right atmosphere.  I never really liked the actual “travel” part of traveling because we both had to take half our possessions along.  He wanted all his stuff, but didn’t realize that I was the one that had to pack it and organize it and then wash and put everything away when we got home.  It was just too much work half the time.  Then, we both got to the point that a few years ago when we were ready to move again, it was too much to consider.  The thought of getting rid of all our stuff, selling out and moving cross-country to a completely new place to start over was too much for both of us.  Now, that might not happen to you, and I hope it doesn’t.  Just saying, the OG never thought it would happen to him either.

@rnmom  I sure do understand about how you’re living.  I’m on 80 acres, and even with having others help out, it’s ridiculous for me to be here alone. And, as you know, it is expensive.  So, I’m also waiting for my Monster Dog to leave me (which shouldn’t be for a few more years), and I’m off to town.  I don’t want to go, but I have to be practical.  And @just bee I don’t have anyone that would want this place when I’m gone anyway.  That’s all if I can stay functional for the next several years!

(I almost deleted this because rereading it, it sounds so terribly depressing!)

@geezerette - I love red, it's one of my favorite colors! Red and purple! But like you, I don't actually have a lot of red clothes. Send your red t-shirt over here, I'll use it! Smiley Happy

But I agree with you wholeheartedly, wear what you like and what you're comfortable in and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. You only have to please yourself.

@rnmom

@geezerette

I had very little red in my wardrobe when I was younger but now I have a lot of it.  I wear red shoes almost every day.

I'd hang on to the red and pink shirts and wear them under another shirt in a more neutral color.  I depend on the Kate Hepburn "shirt jacket"  and I keep a lot of men's shirts in the closet.  Lighter than a sweatshirt or jacket, but they still cover things.

This is why I dislike warm weather.  I prefer a fall/winter wardrobe.

I thought I heard something about a recent survey of nurses.  They said the only reason they didn't leave the career was the scrubs.  I believe this.

Once you start wearing pajamas to work it's hard to think about pantyhose and heels.

@just bee

Oh yes, that’s my uniform.  Pants, tee, and shirt over top.  But I prefer black pants and white tee.  If I’m really adventurous, I’ll change to a colored shirt.  I just like the way that looks on me.  Simple.  So many things actually hurt my eyes when I have them on.  I do have to admit, I have red shoes too!

I prefer fall and winter clothes also.  I just love the feel of long pants and a jacket.  I don’t feel comfortable in summer clothes, and now that I’m older, I don’t like the way I look in them either.  But my black knit pants are just too hot for summer.  I switch to khaki, but woven pants are uncomfortable, even with elastic waistbands.  I always have problems finding pants I like.  The material, the length, the fit—ugh.😖  I used to wear skirts, but—of course—the style I liked has been discontinued for years. 😭

I keep reminding myself that if these are the only problems I have, I’m blessed.  And pretty soon, I’ll be wearing jammies all day too—about the only good thing to look forward to in the nursing home!

(Boy, I’m really a ball of joy this morning, aren’t I?🤣)

I don't think it's depressing -- it's just life.  Unless, of course, you think life is depressing -- which it is if you think that your destination in life is... well, the opposite.

It's like "Yay!  I'm born!," then the clock starts ticking.

Interesting design.  Kinda like the platypus.  Someone has a bizarre sense of humor.  Won't mention names.
