I used to to tell The Old Geezer that if anything happened to him, I would just eat junk food all the time and by doing so would commit suicide. And if I could do that and just drop dead in a month or year, I’d be fine with that. But the problem is that it doesn’t work that way. You feel like 💩 and your mind doesn’t function while the damage is piling up. Since I’m not ready to give control of my life to someone else by having an addiction that leads to some sort of commitment (as in rehab or hospital because of ill health), I guess I’d better get my act together.
Wise words.

Of course, there's always a different option. I was told on another thread that I'm doomed because I don't use an SPF.

Truth be told, I conquered smoking 23 years ago, which was absolutely hard to do, and I am finding changing my eating habits, just as hard, which surprises me.
Better-half gave up tobacco when he started vaping. I was on board with that in the beginning but now I notice that he's vaping every second he's awake.
At least when he was smoking, he'd get up and go outside for a cigarette. Now he can sit at the computer and vape endlessly.
Tobacco may have been a healthier option.
But seriously, it's the sitting in front of the computer that'll get him.

That’s what all my mother’s little buddies told her too because she was always out in the desert sun without a hat or SPF. She lived like that for twenty years, not counting the 68 years she lived like that in the Midwest.
At one month shy of 89 years old her heart gave out. She never had a bit of skin cancer.

Uh-oh. You're supposed to wear a hat, too?
I see people running around with umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun. I lived five years where it rained almost daily and I never had an umbrella.
I'm at the age when I have to wonder why I'd want to live forever. Almost all the people I like are dead.

Me too. And my two siblings are a decade older than me, not in the greatest shape themselves. The only two people I have left that I feel a deep connection with.
That’s why I’ve been hoping my junk food diet would work out.

I recently realized that the only living relative I communicate with is my older (by 12 years) sister. (Yes, I do communicate with the non-living ones.)
She and her husband just returned home after visiting their kids who are spread across the country. I had expected her to show up here but she discovered she didn't have my phone number or address and we never did see each other.
Now that I have a little time off, she is willing to make the trip again. It dawned on me that we haven't seen each other since 2006.
I told her to come on out. Sounds like she's looking forward to meeting the world's greatest dog. And I told her I'd give her the leftover Halloween candy.

I am so conflicted, on the GMA deals they have some Kate Somerville at half off. I discovered her glow moisturizer last year in a kit at holiday time and I really do like it a lot. It has a gel/cream consistency and it was perfect in the summer time. I am almost out of it. But, the problem is I have a lot of other products to get through. Plus, I am not sure I would buy this moisturizer at regular price so I chose to pass.
1 for anti-consumerism. I am trying to keep my product purchasing to what I really need in November. ...and December.

I saved $552 this morning by not buying eight pairs of shoes I didn't need.
Still haven't ordered tea. Have four more days to fold before the offer expires.

I had 180 full-size bars in the house and I waited until Halloween to eat a bag of peanut M&M's and a Twix.
But now that the kids are gone and I have leftovers, I filled a glass jar with both regular and peanut M&M's and if I don't get dressed and take this dog out I'm going to sit here all day and eat M&M's.
