I’m allowing myself a few of those purchases, but I’m going to have to watch myself because it’s too easy to get back into overbuying things when I’m trying to get rid of others.

@geezerette

I've managed to keep things from coming in but I still have to work on what's going out.

I had two recurring fantasies when I was younger.  One was to cut my hair off to one inch.  I shaved my head, so that itch has been scratched.

The second fantasy was to give away everything I owned and start over with just the basics.

Both fantasies were inspired by articles I read in women's magazines.  That's why I haven't bought a women's magazine in over a decade.

Now BH has my fantasies.  Maybe he's been reading my old magazines...

Well, I am proud to say no unnecessary beauty purchases in May.  Yahoo.  That was a tough one with the specials and my urge to buy. And good thing I bought a concealor, I am out.  Sometimes those impulse purchases come in handy.

I plan on on holding on to my low buy in June too if I can.  It feels so good to not bring in loads of products. I still have so much to get through.  I can’t imagine some of that isn’t spoiled. But, I will deal with them as they come up.

So far this year I only bought a handful of skincare products, no mu.  The skincare I didn’t need but wanted to try. No more skincare unless needed. Plus, if it is really hot in June, Who would be thinking of products.  Some days I can barely get out the door without melting.  What a waste of product and effort.  I am not looking forward to a brutal summer.  Keeping my fingers crossed that is it sans humidity. Yeah, right.

Have a a nice day, ladies.

I am glad that you are doing well with your low buy @aprilskies.  I had a beauty product "no buy" for lent. And it was a success.  And now let is over, I am on a low buy for beauty product, too. It was hard in the beginning, but it got easier after a month (I think I just got out the habit of looking for deals/ next best thing). However, I am not doing so well on fashion.  I bought whole bunch of clothes from JCPENNY and HSN in April and May. I think I'll need to go on a fashion no buy in June.  I definitely don't need any more clothes.

Re: ComPact 2018 – Just June

I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair.  I have been thinking about it for a couple of years, but the OG never really liked it shorter.  There are always pros and cons to both my shorter and longer hair “styles”—and I use that word loosely—and whenever I take the plunge and get it cut, inevitably two days later I regret it.  Been there, done that.  I’m just so sick of it long and I look awful with it like that.  Problem is, I don’t look any better with shorter hair, and I have to take the time to dry and style it every day.  And when I have a bad hair day, I can’t just pull it back like with long hair.

Why do women obssess about this stuff—hair and makeup?  I have a lot more serious things happening in my life than my hair length, yet this is a topic on my mind almost constantly right now.  Maybe it’s like eating—it’s something I have control over.  And if it doesn’t work out, hair grows back.  So why not just do it?  I don’t know.  I haven’t worked up the nerve yet.  I don’t like making decisions.

Re: ComPact 2018 – Just June

On May 1st I got the incentive to start using the products in my stash.  I'm really gonna do this I told myself so I opened a 32 oz lotion of Baby Grace and now on June 1st I'm only 1/4 way thru the bottle.   I looked thru my stash and noticed I have another 32 oz lotion of Baby Grace and also a 32 oz of Living Grace.  I haven't purchased Philosophy in a long time so I looked thru my past purchase history on QVC and yes, I purchased this product in 2016.  OMG 2 years; where does the time go? And now that I'm older I can't stand the smell anymore; it's not that the lotion has changed I have!  I only want to use no fragrance products now.  How in the world am I gonna get thru this stash?  No wonder my bathroom is a cluttered mess with all these products.  No way, no way is Hubby right when he said that I'd never use it all.  I will persevere if only to prove him wrong!!!!!  Thank god I canceled all auto delivery two years ago and I don't plan on ever going on another auto delivery plan again.  In fact, I haven't done an unnecessary purchase the whole month of May and plan on continuing that trend.  It looks like I won't be purchasing body lotion for at least another 2 years.

@DelaRose

😄  I had to laugh when I read your comment about your husband saying you’d never use it all!  My husband used to comment all the time about my buying things that I would never use or wear.  Now that I’m going through his things, I’m finding oodles of things he never used and multiples of many.  So they’re doing it too!

I do agree about scents no longer being attractive.  I only use two philosophy products now—pure grace body wash and EPD—and that’s because the scent on them is so weak now that I can stand it.  Everybody else hates the weaker smell, but I like it.  I’m very sensitive to fragrances and that’s one of the reasons I can’t use many drug store products.

I only use auto-delivery on things that aren’t available year round, and then it’s only a few products that I know I’m going to use daily.

I often use my shampoos and body cleansers as hand wash to use them up faster.  And as dog shampoo.

@geezerette

I'm due for a cut and I can tell because one day my hair looks fine and today it looks godawful.  I've thought about growing it out again but that's an ugly process.

It's like eyeglass frames.  I'm at the point where how they feel is more important than how they look.  Cutting off all my hair probably feels better than it looks.

If your hair is long, why not do a "gradual" cut?  Like, chop off a few inches and see how it goes?  Then chop off some more...

@DelaRose

@geezerette

That's probably why I'm still using pure grace.  I poured out a bunch of fragrances a few weeks ago because they just smelled too strong.  I may have to go through the rest of my fragrances and prune those, too.

I always had a problem with people who had a problem with scent, but now I'm noticing that the smell of the food people eat at work turns my stomach.

It's gotta be age.

Re: ComPact 2018 – Just June

A few weeks (months?) ago my computer was dying, but then it was resurrected so I've put off buying a new one.  Today it started dying again.

If I disappear from the thread, you'll know why.

Just a heads-up.
