OMG! ![]()
I just looked at dish racks online. Are these people out of their minds? Have you looked at dish racks recently?
Where have I been?
And why does a dish rack cost that much?

I did something today that I can't remember ever doing before. ![]()
I used the last of my first jar of Lumene Glow Reveal. ![]()
I ordered it the last week of October and actually used it. ![]()
Good thing I like it because I have four more jars of the stuff. ![]()
Here's hoping I learn to hate it before it's officially discontinued. ![]()

I was perusing the Home forum because I figured there would be a washer thread -- there was -- and I saw the "What Have You Purged Today?" thread. Now that's an interesting read.
Posters have parted with so many items.
I've been looking at the house -- we've been in it since 1995 -- and I can see it needs some work. Fresh paint, new carpet and tile.
My question is: How do you recarpet an entire house when it's full of furniture? Move everything to one side of the house, then move it to the other?
I imagine it would make more sense to paint before tearing up the carpet... but then again maybe not.
This is why I hate wall-to-wall carpeting and rooms that have nebulous borders.

One less thing around. I have a nephew that just moved out on his own, does he want it, I don’t know but at least it will be someone I could give it too. I have had it for 35 years. But that means I would have to find a place for everything on it so for now it has to stay. Truth be told I would give away my bedroom set too. Another thing I have had for 35 years and it is still in great shape. You probably couldn’t even find the same quality without it costing you an arm and a leg. Truth be told, I think I just want less stuff around. Especially dark wood. I guess I feel I want a new look. If I don’t do it now, when... But I have to let this moment pass for now. I can be hasty. But it’s been a long moment. Maybe if I ever move I can make these decisions more easily. ....or not.
Dont get me started on the dining room table that has glass cutouts. What a pain in the keaster to keep clean.
I think for me I have never had the space I craved and no longer want to be surrounded by stuff.
I feel I am in a serious mood this morning. So it is time to go freshen up and feel lively.
Precisely how I feel about the wall unit. It has all my things in it and on it. I told BH that I store all my tax papers in there and he told me to put them in my file cabinet.
Clearly he has never looked inside that file cabinet. I would have to clear that out before I could even think of putting what's in the wall unit in there.
Major tax reform would just be easier.
🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣. It’s never simple.

It’s crazy, isn’t it. I wanted to replace mine a few years ago. I just have a basic one so I wanted to jazz it up a little, freshen things up. I forget the prices now but I know at the time, I just said no. Mine was fine. 😄

I get the greatest satisfaction when I finish something up. I guess because that was never the case before, I don’t know.
Does Lumene discontinue a lot of items or does it just seem that way?

So you’re saying that there’s something is wrong with eating an entire loaf of bread, followed by an entire box of cookies?😋🙀🤢 I’ve done that many times—quite recently, in fact. Brioche bread and shortbread cookies.😋
Seriously, I too have discovered that I’m one of those people that have problems with carbs. But not just any carbs, processed carbs. Bread, even those that have all the good seeds and whole grains, make me want to eat more carbs. Beans, cooked from scratch—not at all. Potato chips drive me to scarf sweets, but real potatoes don’t trigger that response. Real food has real nutrients.
If I can stay away from the processed/junk-type foods long enough, they don’t even taste good to me anymore. But that’s the key. Those foods are so easy—they’re readily available in the store (too much so), easy to grab, and they’re also being shoved down our throats everywhere, everyday. Very tough to resist.
@geezerette, there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating a whole package of cookies. 🙃😊. The only problem is our muffin tops come out to play and our hips go, huh, you want me to squeeze into that?
I agree about carbs, they make you eat all day. But they are all so good. 😋

I'm not sure what's going on with Lumene. I first heard about the company here when I was looking for some kind of foundation. Someone mentioned their BB cream was available at Walgreens and CVS and it was affordable.
I tried the BB cream and liked it. Then the CC cream appeared, I tried it and I preferred it. They had other items and I tried those and liked them. And then they became difficult to find.
The company seems to come out with new items all the time so the older formulas end up on clearance and then they're gone. They have a broad selection of skincare AND cosmetics on the website. In fact, they've expanded their CC cream products.
But that's in Finland. Women in Russia and Sweden wax poetic on their blogs about Lumene, but they have access to all the products. It seems they've always been limited here.
Which is odd because the reviews are consistently good. It's shocking if you look at all the different lines and products on their website. It's like they're the Finnish version of Maybelline or L'Oreal.
Do I move to Finland? Do I get a pen pal there who can send me Lumene? I mean, there has to be a way to order it from the company but I haven't figured it out yet. It might be cheaper to travel there and fill a suitcase.
But I remember when the ComPact first started. The original concept was to simplify by sticking to one product line. Of course no one was able to do that because no company produced everything a person needed. But Lumene kinda does.
If I had access to everything they produced it could be dangerous. Seriously. If you haven't seen their website recently, you should check it out. They even have a line for men and vegan makeup. Deodorant. Nail polish. The whole shebang.
What is "shebang" in Finnish? Maybe it's "lumene."

@just bee, it’s a shame because I would try their line but they seem to change with the wind. Not that other brands don’t anyway. Like you said we would all have our holy grails by now. I know I would at least had a few.
I almost tried the glow reveal when I saw it on Cvs’s Site, I wanted to compare it to the one I bought from Kate Somerville because I like Kates products but they are not a repurchase. I bought it in a kit but alone it is a bit too expensive. I am done paying that much money on one product. So if I end up loving Kate’s and it was similar, it would be cheaper. It certainly had great reviews. I didn’t realize they had so much in their range. Too bad it isn’t easily available here. Hmmm, moving to Finland, why does that sound enticing?
But, by the time I get through what I have I am sure there will be another latest and greatest that is a must try. 😁

Like I said, I really like their Sisu (Urban Antidotes) Moisture Remedy Day & Night Cream. Such a different consistency! Feels thick and cold -- like gelato. But now I can't find it.
If I could, I'd use Glow Reveal under my CC cream and the Sisu cream at night and be DONE!
If I don't like the way a product smells or feels, I don't care how well it works -- I just won't use it. Lumene makes their products usable for me. The scent, the packaging, the consistency... I like their products.
So I continue to stalk websites looking for them to reappear. ![]()
