The ComPact is a commitment to simplify, pare down, streamline. It began as a way to gain some control over our collections of beauty products. Why were we amassing so much, yet not using what we were buying? Why were we always searching for the next new product? Why couldn't we just find what worked for us and stick with it?
The ComPact, however, is not restricted to beauty items. If you have a collection you want to address, do it here. Choose an area you want to work on, and track your progress on the ComPact thread. Members will offer tips and encouragement.
Choose one of our many mantras (“One by one until they’re done!” “We are SPAHHHRRRTAN!!!” “Not until you really have to.” “Buy less, choose well, make it last.” “Resist the propaganda.” "If it's high, I don't buy!" “When in doubt, do without!” “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.” "Only the store, online no more!" “Shoplighters of the World Unite!”) or create a new one and share it. Target items each month to toss, donate, or use, and post your “chopping block” -- or “hit list.” Post temptations, post victories.
They say it takes 30 days for something to become a habit: Let's see if taking the ComPact one month at a time works for you.

Hey, all you HEPcats and HEPdogs! We had discussed making the Healthy Eating thread a monthly jam session, so I just went ahead and did a little improvisation.
This is an invite to our crazy crib where you can come and break it down! I say we go 18 karat on this and really swing. If healthy eating’s not your bag, no problem. But if it is, I dig.
It’s cool, I’m booted, let’s jump!

A gentle reminder...
It's a new quarter so it may be time to toss/replace mascara or whatever else...

I am still plugging away at both compacting and HEP. I love reading how everyone is doing.
I am much more mindful in my purchasing, though I do sometimes (rarely now) binge. I am slowly working my way through skin care products. That is really the only category I need to pare down now. I don't have many back ups, it's just that I'm trying to work through what is open and get down to only a few products a day and night rather than the endless layering of too many products.
HEP is hit and miss but I am happy to report it is now more hit than miss! Again, I still binge but not as badly or as frequently. 👍

Has anyone been neglecting her skin because it's summer and the thought of putting cream or oils on your face/body seems unappealing?
Or is it just me?

I was so happy to see the circumhorizontal arc on Saturday. Now I feel the way you feel when your vacation ends and you're back at work.
It's going to take more than a new month to motivate me. I have a list of things to do and I just feel like taking a nap.
There ain't no cure for the summertime blues. ![]()

Jim-Dandy (July) to the rescue! Hmm, no poodle skirt emoticon.

Jim Dandy (To the Rescue) was recorded again in 1973 by Black Oak Arkansas. At the time, the song and the band turned my stomach. Funny, but most of the music I despised back then is somehow much more palatable now. Ah, nostalgia.
I made myself do something. A body in motion blah, blah, blah. I went into the front room with garden clippers and tackled my overgrown houseplants. House trees, really. I cut back my rubber plants and they bled Elmer's Glue all over me. Once I got most of it off I started shredding some papers.
I've got to stop thinking that these projects have to be tackled all at once. It's impossible, so they just don't get done. If I can just do an hour here and an hour there, I'll feel like I'm accomplishing something.
That feeling of being stuck is the worst. No, actually the feeling of being sticky is. I think I missed a spot from the rubber plant attack.

I guess bees and ants are related—you have “high hopes” when it comes to that rubber tree plant.🐝🐜
I just happened to hear that song on a Lipton Tea commercial. Ah, Frank. How times have changed.

Ar, ar, ar! Should have seen what I did to the schefflera!
Yeah, it's weird what music is used for commercials these days. Everything's weird these days.
Remember when FM radio was worth listening to? Now the stations play the same ten songs over and over again. I can't believe that between 1968 and today, only ten songs were recorded. Ten cr@ppy songs.
