Re: ComPact 2017 – Sensible September!

Aaaarrrgggghhhh!

A dilemma.  Because I ordered something from Dermstore they are now offering an opportunity to spend more within the next 30 days at a 20% discount.

As tempting as it is to stockpile more Lumene CC cream, it wouldn't be prudent if it will just expire in a year.

And this Drunk Elephant serum is $80 an ounce.  I can get 144 ounces of Amstel Light for under $15.

LOL. yea exactly. And everything looks better with beer googles on.   I had their c serum. I cant believe I spent that much money on one product. I didnt see any great results but to be fair, I dont see a difference with most things.  However, it is true, it is strong, I couldnt use it everyday, so it was every other day for me.  So that is not a bad thing. I was just happy to have finished it.

Re: ComPact 2017 – Sensible September!

I finished 3 shampoos this week, ladies. How thrilled am I. Now I can pick two others to rotate.  Yes, you guessed it, all I had to do was walk to my closet. You know, the stock room.

One by one or is it three by three...... (snicker, snicker)

I worry that I'd order something like this then discover I can't live without it.  Why open myself up to that kind of thing?

This probably explains why I have a mini-warehouse of free samples that sit unused.

I should do that.  I should rotate shampoos.  But then that would mean I'd be rotating shampoos that I'd stopped using because they s__ked and then I had to go out and buy other shampoos which is why I have a collection of shampoos in the first place. Woman Mad

You are better using them up as you can to get rid of them.  My hair would not let me use the same shampoo for long so I have to rotate. I also am getting too many hair issues so I am always looking for solutions, which is how I have accumulated so many shampoos and hair products. I now give away those that don't work for me.  I do try to use some up but I don't want to struggle through bad hair days if I don't have to.  It is not pretty.

This is what keeps me from buying a lot of stuff. At least this vit c, they say to use it every two days so it will last, but I started using it every other day to use it up before it got old. I had it for awhile since I was using other things as well.  For me, I am not willing to spend that kind of money any longer on one product.

[ Edited ]

All the hurricane business going on and the devastation people are experiencing, it is heartbreaking. It will be hard but at least the people with money can recover, but the poor, the recovery will be harder.  It has made me realize, I wouldn't want to be in the position of starting over.  As much as I kid around, having to start over like that is horrendous. The saying is true, be careful what you wish for. From here on out, I will.   Whats scary is the hurricane season just started.  It has actually started me thinking about an escape pack and putting one together.  Maybe this is a passing feeling but if not, I will try and not go crazy.  However, I may not be going anywhere if something were to happen (fingers crossed) because I am not sure how I would get my kitties out.  Just getting them to the vet is an adventure. You would think they are octopuses.

Be safe, everyone.

Well, I went ahead and pulled old bottles of Organix Keratin Oil shampoo and conditioner out of the closet.  I'll try to use these up, but I'm not going to use that horrid Head & Shoulders unless I plan to shave my head afterwards.

But I'll tell you who had a positive shampoo experience this week.

What was I doing at 1:00 in the morning?  What would you be doing if you needed peroxide at 1:00 in the morning?  One word: WALMART.

World's Greatest Dog was skunked (again) last night and we were out of peroxide, so I jumped into the car and sped to the only open store in town.  It's the place to be on a Saturday night in ABQ.

Better-half mixed up his special deskunkification formula (peroxide, baking soda, dishwashing detergent with a splash of apple cider vinegar and vanilla extract) and we went to work on WGD.

Then came the shampoo.  And just in time for fall, too.  Borghese Royal Treatment Pumpkin Patch and Nutmeg.  Not only does this dog smell heavenly, but his coat is glossy and feels so silky.  Looks like they've changed the formula somewhat (I have an old bottle) but it's a fine product.

I get Suave and he gets shampoo made in Italy.

@aprilskies

I staggered into the kitchen this morning to make tea and BH greets me with a list of what I should be putting in a safe deposit box.  This is not a conversation I want to have before I've had tea.

There's definitely been a change since his return -- and all the things he's had to think about related to his mom's death.

Thinking about the house, documents, where we want to be living, bird seed attracting the skunk...

He always has to get the bird feeding in there somewhere.

But you're right -- these catastrophes definitely make you think about what you would do in an emergency.  Food, water, guns, ammo...

But to be honest, how many of us act on these thoughts once the disaster coverage ebbs?

I lived with earthquakes for 25 years and really wasn't prepared for the BIG one.

Like you, I don't want to start over, either.  I started over careerwise -- that's enough for me.  The thought of packing, moving, settling into a new state... ugh.

And I'm at the point where I'm looking at WGD and thinking that he's my last.  I just don't like thinking about the possibility of dying and leaving a pet behind.
