I'd squirreled away some money because I knew I had to bite the bullet and get someone out to deal with the yard -- especially the trees. It's going to cost more than the estimate from last year (we called this company to come out to do the work and they never got back to us so we looked for someone else). They plan to do the work this week but it occurred to me that I have to sleep during the day so I can work at night. This isn't going to be pleasant. But the trees have to be done.
Ugh. Why do we have a yard?
Because it's too much work to teach the dog to use the commode.
Good point.

Just popping in to say hello. I hope everyone is doing well.
Just Bee - I hope you are feeling better and with a few less trees. ![]()
Findingmyjoy - how was Florida?
There are a few specials coming up but so far, no beauty purchases. I cant believe it. First time ever. I am really not even tempted, at least, right now. And I am glad I am so over skinn products.
The weather is getting beautiful. I hope we dont skip right over Spring though. I would love a nice Spring.

It really does feel like it's time for a change. A disruption. Now's the time to start tweaking: The clocks change on the 13th.
Well, I've been frugal for so long -- and I would have been happy to just keep saying no to spending -- but I had to face reality. I look at the plants in my yard as survivors who require my respect and support. They made it through some hostile conditions and are still standing. This week has been more than a spa treatment for them. We're talking heavy duty pruning and fertilization. I don't recognize my yard: It's been transformed. There is still much more to do, but this is where I live -- I have to make it livable.
We chose a local small business and plan to maintain a relationship with these people. Three people, three days, and the yard is brand new. The plants can start all over again: Let the bees rejoice!
Still have to get out there and keep working at it, but now it looks and feels more manageable.

I had a beauty mishap this week. I've been a tad sleep deprived with all the activity in the yard, so as I was getting ready to go to work I mishandled my ancient pot of bareMinerals eye shadow. That old pot of "summer" has a lot less product in it after my hand twitched and powder flew all over my bathroom.

Well, that is one way to "compact"!

That's great. I love a beautiful looking yard.
Oh no, the inevitable happened to your BE shadow. I guess it is meant for you to finish it in this century. 😂

In that I will have to empty a bathroom drawer and clean it out because everything in it is brown and sparkly? I went online to see if -- in the event I wanted another pot o' powder -- this color is still available and how much it would cost. Fifteen bucks? For a lifetime of eye shadow? It makes me wonder how some women can finish one of these. It's gotta be the way I did it: Powder shower. I still have enough in this pot for another half decade.
I have some other shadows (Maybelline, e.l.f.) so I think I'll use those up before I even consider a new shadow purchase.
P.S. How's your girl, g?

Did I say beautiful? Oh, no -- that's fantasy land. If I want to clean out my savings, I could get presentable. I still live in the land of blowing tumbleweeds and Doritos bags.

So I've actually been doing really well so far this year, only a couple of small purchases including an eye cream, some flavored lip balms, one body spray, replacement shower gels for my kids and hubby because they were down to their last ones. And then I watched the Skinn show yesterday and couldn't resist the TTV.
I've been battling melasma since I had my second son, he'll be 8 this summer. What was a pregnancy mask never went away. I've tried more products than I can count to try to lighten it and nothing has worked. I used to have very nice skin and now I'm embarrassed to go out in public without makeup on. The melasma bothers me so much more than any lines or wrinkles that I have. So, when he said his ingredients were 4x more effective than hydroquinone I caved. I don't know if these products will work any miracles or not, nothing else has, but when a girl is desperate you know, she'll try about anything. So that is my big purchase so far for this year.
