@aprilskies wrote:JB, I agree with you on the yogurt. Things just aren't the same. I ended up buying a big container. All I could find for what I needed. Enough with the no fat/low fat foods. Bring back real food.
Kaysd, Paris, ooh la la. On my bucket list. I would eat and drink my way through there too guilt free. Sounds like you had a great time.
So, for the grains, are you guys tossing them out or just eating your way through them and just not repurchasing?
I'm volunteering to eat all of KaySD's bread products so they won't be wasted. Let me know if you're ready to part with yours -- I'll stock more peanut butter.

Heard about the Ferndale, CA earthquake on the car radio on my way home from work. I'm still awake, waiting to hear something more.
Have a soft spot for Ferndale. Spent a lot of time at the antique shop and cemetery there. The first time I saw Ferndale was when my parents and I road-tripped north and we stopped to watch David Naughton. How we managed to be passing through on the day they were filming the Dr. Pepper commercial, I'll never know.

Yup. That's Ferndale.

Ahhh, @just bee, a woman after my own heart (or possbly taste buds). I have one word for you: TOAST. Crisp, tender, willing to bear burdens from thick, rich butter to piles of meat and veggies and mayonnaise. Toast: the basis for so many good things in life.
And, alas, without redeeming nutritional value. Fiber? Much better to eat a pile of veggies. Vitamins? Minerals? Seriously, eat veggies. Protein? Takes a ton to equal even a modest piece of meat or fish. Lectins, glutens, and phytates? Well, yes, but these are anti-nutrients, so....
I'm off to the Macaroni Grill for my book club (we know how to do it here). And you know what they bring to the table with the vino, right? Hot, fragrant, with olive oil in a dish. Sigh.
Yes, dumpster. My city charges 99 bucks to bring one of those big wheelies, leave it a week, and pick it up again. The alternative is to make appointments and take multiple loads to the waste management site myself, plus time and labor plus car washes afterward. Not a bad deal.

Tee-hee! You'd be welcome to my leftover crackers and granola, but...
After two weeks of baguettes and croissants, I have denuded my house of anything with grain in it. Even that ancient remnant of rice lurking behind the bone broth in the pantry, and the frostbitten breaded shrimp in the freezer. Gone! If it were in my house, it woulld get eaten.
I cannot be trusted!
(at least not with bread)
(or cookies, or oatmeal, or fettucini, or ...)

I could never do that. Wait. It wouldn't be rye, would it? I could pry rye.

Last I heard there was no damage. It was a hundred miles off the coast. Now if it had been centered in Ferndale, those Victorians would have slid off their foundations. Gingerbread would be falling and crashing to the ground.
Hmmm... gingerbread...
No, this kind:
I've been through many earthquakes -- even the Loma Prieta quake of '89. I'd take a quake over a tornado any day.

No, not bad at all!
Don't even try to tempt me with all your toast talk. I don't need bread this morning. I have paella in the fridge!
