Dosey - I checked out Angie's videos going thru her stash. I noticed she would say quite often that she had something "for years". It made me feel better about my stash! LOL. One thing that has really helped me with Compacting is putting a date of all new purchases. It's quite eye-opening how long a product lasts plus a good way to weed out the old stuff. Just this morning, I found a sample of moisturizer that I didn't think I had that long, turned it over and saw that I got it in July 2013! The stamp date of expiration (most likely due to SPF) was November 2014. So much for me thinking I was doing a good job keeping on top of expiration dates!

Hi Everyone!

Happy August!  I haven't been on in a few days but I'm doing well spending-wise.  I haven't bought any skin care or makeup.  What is this Isomers that you all are talking about?  I probably shouldn't know because I still have a couple of Bare Minerals Miracle Worker kits.  But, once those are gone in many months, I'll be looking for new skin care.  I still need a good eye cream or serum as I'm still without it but have been using a Stri-Vectin serum around my eyes and it's been pretty good!

I got the new Ulta flyer in the mail yesterday.  Of course, they put one of my great weaknesses on the cover - an eyeshadow palette.  I have several in one of my vanity drawers unopened so I keep telling myself that I don't need any more.

I miss the little owls.  But, the Cornell Birdcams are nice to watch also when I'm not home watching my feeders there.

What a great idea to mark when I buy something new!  I mark my Wen purchases so I use the oldest first but I never thought to do that with my makeup or skin care!

Thank you for the idea!

I know what you mean.  It has been many months since I looked at my lip colors.  I need to do that, again.  I am certain a few things need to be thrown away.

The first election debate is on tonight, and I am so excited!!  Let the games begin!

I stopped by Sephora to pick up Bamboo Volumizing Spray.  They gave me my birthday gift.  Two Nars lip crayons.  The red was too dark, so I tossed it.  I'm not sure about the other color, yet, because the red stained my lips.  I'll test it later.  I also traded my points for a Murad kit - cleanser, eye cream, face cream, and sunscreen.  It looks very nice, and the sizes are very small.  DD and I are going to use the cleanser, so it will be gone in no time.  Actually, all of the pieces will be gone, soon.  It is that small.

Trying to get to the counter to pay for the spray was an effort.  All of those try me sized products that line the way to the counter were so distracting.  DD had to keep me focused by telling me to just pay for the spray.  Isn't that terrible?!!  Seriously, Sephora has the best selection of try me products.

Ulta sent me a $10 off coupon good for anything.  They also have a mascara waiting for me.  What is a girl to do?  Good thing birthdays only come once per year.

Paws and enjoy life.

Well, my emotion-driven purchases are starting to arrive and I'm in big trouble:  I actually LIKE just about all of them!  That hasn't happened in years.  A couple of pairs of shoes don't fit and will be going back, but the majority of what I ordered I really like.

My dilemma is not whether I need the stuff because I knew before I ordered any of it I didn't need another thing.  My problem is deciding whether or not I'll actually use any of it.  I don't really mind keeping it all, but I absolutely do not want another two or three garbage bags full of stuff in my closet that are waiting to be donated because I haven't worn or used any of it.  Right now I can actually see the floor of my master closet (my "holding" area for donations/toss outs) and can walk through it without falling over excess stuff.  I like it that way, and I want to keep it that way.

But I also like all this new stuff sitting on the floor of the other bedroom.  And even if I like it and use it, then what about all the stuff it's replacing that I'm using now?  I'll have to decide whether to keep or toss all of it.  Oh dear, I think I've just done it again.  Sheesh.

Dosey - Did you enjoy the debate? I forgot it was on but have caught clips of it on tv today.

Geezerette - Good luck with your decision. That is a hard one. I have started the rule with clothes and shoes - If I buy a new one, an old one has to be donated or thrown out if not donation quality. The 1 in, 1 out, rule seems to really help me. I saw online that there is going to be an Easy Spirit TS on HSN next week. I have really come to like this brand so I'm telling myself that if it's a nice dress shoe I could wear for work, I can buy them since I have a much-loved pair of Clarks that is starting to fall apart. The new pair would come in and the old pair goes in the trash! That way, I can enjoy the new purchase without any guilt.

I bought a non-beauty purchase. My mattress is getting older and I've been debating about getting a new one. But, I've always been tempted by the mattress pads sold on HSN. There is a superloft one that has tons of stellar reviews. It was on a pretty good sale plus I had a coupon code so I bought it. It arrived a couple days ago. I opened it up and let it air out. Last night, I tried it out and WOW! what a difference it made on the bed! I'm going to see how it works within the 30 day return window. I hope it's a keeper! I would much rather be able to spend $50 now and be able to push off a multiple hundred dollar mattress purchase for a while longer.

I do confess, I've been stalking Evine's Isomer page LOL. There is another new kit recently added that has a couple C-Stem items (serum and peel - both in slightly larger than regular sizes), a new skin lightener, and the SPF lotion....it may be the TSV? All I really want is the best deal on her C-Stem serum. My skin really loved it and I haven't had it in a few months so it would be a great true test to see what could happen to my skin if I tried it again. Is it sad that I've already been comparing the kits and current prices to see which is the best price for it? Sort of feels like the comparison I did when looking for a new car LOL!

How are things going?  Will TS Guillermo be impacting you?

Hi Dosey!  Fortunately Guillermo has been a minor nuisance, bringing mainly intense humidity.  Hardly any rain or wind.  Now I hear Hilda is on her way.  Sigh, this is going to be a very long hurricane season.  November can't get here fast enough.  Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Happy birthday!

Thanks, Just Bee!  I loved the saying on the Sephora Birthday Gift "One year bolder".  DH said, that's for sure!

Oh I don't need tea to get the grass effect.  We've started extracting our veggies so we can get them down raw instead of cooking them all.  And also because I hate most vegetables, even though they're the largest part of my diet, so I figured if I just chugged down a big glass of liquid, it would be done and over with instead of having to choke them down bite by bite.  Combine a bunch of potent greens and it pretty much tastes just like grass.  In fact, that's what I call it: our grass drink.  It's gross (and looks like, well, it doesn't look appetizing) but it really seems to give us both a lift.

I've been trying not to beat myself up for years.  I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be, but I seem to screw up so much more now than when I was younger.  My brain just doesn't function properly, and I have to admit, I just don't care about a lot of things I used to, so I tend to slack off a lot more.  Thank goodness I don't have to be out in the workforce.

But I'm always up for a break.

I'm a big fan of vegetables and I always feel better after I eat them.  Where I screw up is fruit.  I like it, I buy it, and then I forget to eat it and have to pitch it.  It's a recurring theme.

I'm beating myself up for trying to take today off.  I have been forcing myself to take Mondays off, but I can't relax and enjoy the break because I think I should be studying or pulling weeds or looking for Bob the box turtle.  (Where the heck did he go?)  I'm supposed to be renewing my nursing license and have been procrastinating.  Why is this?

I like the idea of taking a break from worry and making myself fret.  If there's nothing to fret about I'll find something.  I'm working on that but it doesn't take much to fall off the wagon and start obsessing.

Let's make it official: No flogging this month.  Maybe I need to get back into yoga.  It's hard to beat yourself up when you're so relaxed that you can't lift your arm against yourself.

I always say that I worry if I have nothing to worry about...

I do the same thing with fruit: buy it, don't eat it, and end up throwing it out because it spoiled.  Only I don't like it.  I buy it thinking that I'll use it instead of sweets, but an apple just doesn't taste like a candy bar to me, much as I've tried to imagine it does.  Although now that I've been off sweets again for a while, I just about OD'd myself eating the watermelon my husband brought home.  It was like mainlining sugar--ahh, I was in heaven--until the headache hit.

You know, I do swear that we must have had at least one parent in common--the one that taught us to worry about everything and to be perfectionists at all times.  If I didn't expend all that energy criticizing myself, I'd probably feel much better.  But then I'd have to worry about feeling too good...

I do the same, end up throwing out too much wasted food.  This week my goal was to not go grocery shopping and I did it!  The freezer and fridge a looking a bit empty now.  I guess I'll have to go to Costco this weekend. Smiley LOL
