I can so relate to all of you. I have had to use the 'there will always be another sale' mantra so many times in the last few days. First, I thought I needed the IT tsv (are you kidding?), and now I think I need those boots. I don't know what is up with this strong desire to buy something, even when I don't need it. I organized my closet yesterday, so I know I need nothing. Perhaps I shall have to recheck all the stash and the closet. Is it the weather?

Beauty$Junkie - I think it is the change of seasons, it always feel nice to have new things to wear. I have also been trying to curb my spending, but I feel I also need a couple new pairs of shoes for fall/winter. Sad part is I don't, I bought a new pair last year and hardly wore them, I kept wearing the same pair of black Clarks all winter.

I have had to enter the closet zone recently to excavate dressy items in my wardrobe. (Cue Streisand: "Mem-reeeees, light the corners of my mind....") I have owned the ultimate dress shoe – and I’m not sure if they came from HSN or QVC. A pointy black velvet Maryjane with a sparkly stone buckle. I tried to wear them to a wedding Friday night – and I was running late – but the strap failed. These shoes are so ancient (the 80s) that the elastic piece securing the strap has degraded. Better-half thinks it’s time to bid them a fond adieu and he looked horrified when I said they could be repaired. He just looked at me and asked: “What – you’re going to find a cobbler?” Uh, yeah. Somewhere…

I have not forgotten the ComPactors! I am still making mindful purchases. Especially after I do a purge. Seeing all the stuff that we just had to have being donated a short while later is motivating. I do not want to be in that situation often. The kids just donated a garbage bag each for their school's fun fair. It feels great to see it leave the house. And they wont miss those things at all. I hope this is being absorbed into my kids brains.

JustBee, we have a shoe repair shop in our town, and he is always busy. I will be taking some boots into him this week. Oshare, mindful purchases are a real progress IMO. I have to talk myself out of purchases daily. Progress, not perfection.

We have several and there's one not far from me. I think it's worth investigating. I figure I can buy another pair of dressy shoes, but why do it if I can save the pair I've had forever?

It has become easier to resist purchases because I know myself. Like PAlady said, she bought a new pair of shoes then discovered she never wore them. I still have plenty in my closets that has never been worn. I'll shop there.

My big purchase this week (besides paying for my next class) is Halloween candy. I bought 168 full-size bars (about 18 pounds of chocolate) and now I'm worried that it's not enough. Halloween is on a Friday and it's going to be warm. I might need some peanut butter cups...

Oh, major accomplishment for me--I found a vintage D & B handbag for $3.50 at the thrift shop (when I drop off, of course, I have to look) that I carried around for the longest time, but I did leave without it. I told hubby when he got home and he was shocked, but I told him that I did not need that. Word for the day, Mindful.
