Re: ComPact 2014 -- November

I am having a bit of problem lately, my will broke down a little bit, but all in all, 2014 is my best year for spending yet. I know I can do better and realize I still have some work to do in this area.

I had taken some things to a consignment shop last month. I figured with all of the things I mostly donated, maybe I can try and make a few bucks. So, I called them to see how things were going and I sold one item and made basically nothing. oy vey. What I took were all good things too so I was a little surprised. I will leave them for one more month and see how it goes. If things dont sell, I will call some churches and see if they want them for their fundraising drives. I usually take things to goodwill, but will make an effort to support a church if I can. But, I must admit, I was a bit disappointed.

Don't take this personally. It's why I don't open a business -- I can't understand why some people buy certain things and aren't interested in others. Remember when cotton shaker knit sweaters were all the rage? I used to go to a thrift shop in the San Francisco Bay Area to look for unusual sweaters. What I discovered was that the cotton sweaters sold well even though they were priced much higher than the other sweaters that caught my eye: Pure cashmere from Scotland.

I cleaned up. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

LOL, Just Bee. I know, go figure. Sometimes the best things are the low hanging fruit. People dont normally look for those. I love those moments.

Thank you all for your kind words! Things are getting better and my husband has two big interviews tomorrow. Fingers crossed! On the bright side, I finished my large Pure Grace shower gel from February and several larger skincare samples this week. It's been nice to finish things for once!

Re: ComPact 2014 -- November

Hi everyone! So far I have resisted buying any skincare holiday kits. My husband and I decided five years ago not to give each other gifts. Our kids are grown and live in other parts of the country, no grandkids. So other than an emergency, we like to start the New Year with a zero, or close to it, balance on our credit card. I really want to use up what I have in 2015, so it should be interesting. Good luck to all as this is a hard time of year for us skincare and makeup lovers.

I've been watching Hoarders episodes and that always makes me not want to buy anything. I could just imagine feeling overwhelmed by it all.

Kns110, good luck to your husband.

Re: ComPact 2014 -- November

I actually have fallen back into the notion that everything sounds like a good idea. So, I have been buying some stuff but now must step away from the computer/tv, mostly from the beauty boards since I cant seem to help myself. If I dont see it, I dont know that I need it. I am surprised how I have easily fallen back in.

In 2015, I too will focus on using things up and will not buy unless it is something I need. Yesterday, I made it a point to do a facial scrub, which I havent done in quite some time. As I was doing my scrub, I remembered a thread a while back called the Sunday scrub or something like that. I remembered the name last night and now it escapes me. Anyway, that is it for beauty products for me for awhile. The only thing I need is a hand cream for my pocketbook and then I am done.

Kns, good luck to your husband with his interviews. I hope all goes well. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I havent seen Dosey in awhile. I hope she is okay and just taking a break from the boards. I am not on these boards as much so maybe she is around and I have just missed her. In any case, I hope she and her family are okay. Sending her warm thoughts for a safe and healthy holiday!

I haven't heard from Dosey in ages. In fact, many of my favorite posters have been absent for some time. Where's Belleandme? I hope that the reason they aren't here is because they're so busy with all the good things going on in their lives.
