When you have a particular event, pull out your notebook and start sorting your pieces until you've put together an outfit that works for you. Be sure to include shoes, jewelry and other accessories. It doesn't have to be a big notebook - even 4 x 6 inch file cards would work, or even just printing out your pictures on 4 x 6 inch photo paper that you could easily sort into categories and place in a file box. I have a couple of photo albums that have pockets that photos slide into and I think that would be a great place to store your pictures. What gave me this idea is seeing articles in magazines showing a dress from this designer and shoes from that one, etc etc. Picking up your photo album to review when you're watching TV one evening or while you're waiting for dinner to finish cooking would be a good way to keep your inventory fresh in your mind and give you an opportunity to "play" with your clothes, putting together outfits that maybe you hadn't thought of before. Just a thought.

Another month is here, a chance to recommit.
As usual, this month's goal is to have less coming in than going out.
For this month's ORC: I need to re-organize my files! I received the Freedom Filer (it really is a handy system). I emptied two 2-drawer file cabinets of files and supplies into 5 boxes. I purchased and made up the folders that I think I'll be needing. Now the hard part. I'll be sorting, shredding, recycling or refiling all those files! This is a tedious process because everything has to be checked for SSNs, account numbers, etc. I'll try to do a little each day. It'll be so good when it's done.
Stay strong!
Wise words. Remember: The problem didn't occur overnight so why do we think we can solve it overnight? A little each day fosters a habit. A change in behavior. Tackle the issue a little bit at a time until it's done.
And then tackle the next one!

Organize those kitchen cupboards!

Tonight's the night.
I've waited long enough for the nighttime temperature to rise... today we'll be in the 80s and tonight's low will be 50.
Tonight I will release the bugs.

I don't post often but I had to when I saw the raccoons. I love them. April was a pretty good month. I ordered the Trish McEvoy TSV but then cancelled it. I did get a tarte blush and UD lipgloss from Ulta & I love them and will use them. I'm far from perfect but thanks to the Compact I'm better than I was. Sometimes I do a quick list in my head of all the things I wanted to buy recently but didn't & I feel really good about not buying those things. I love that change in my attitude.

Happy May!
Signing on for another month. April was good for me as far as bath and body and lotions. I did get makeup, Mally TSV AD came and I got the Ambient Lighting Palette, which I am using and really liking. Happy with the purchases, will gift some of the Mally to my sister for her bday as I planned. I resisted the Trish Mcevoy planner TSV which was tough!
As far as skincare just a planned purchase of the Sun Saftey kit which will be used this summer.
Things are steadly being used up and given away. Need to get back into the ORC my plan for this month are my clothes. My SIL gave me bags and bags of hand me downs (which I love!!) but I need to go thru and see what fits what I like and want to keep and go thru my own clothes and weed out old things and store the winter clothes. Out with the old and in with the new (well new for me!)
Enjoy the weekend!

Hi, everybody! Well, I was feeling a bit embarrassed about buying a few things from the PTR line over the past few months. But I'm happy to report that they are actually simplifying my life. For one thing, they're so good for me, I only need a few products to satisfy every need. For another, I finally tossed some things I'd been holding on to, because I just don't want to use them now. Finally, I can't wait to use up some other perfectly good things and never replace them again. Soon, my active skin care and makeup will be minimal, and I'll only need a small stash of spares on hand.
Meanwhile, I forget if I said last month, but I've been selling some clothes on thredup dot com and tradesy dot com. They are very different but both seem good. A few bucks back and less to donate. I'm gonna keep going with this.
Last, I was looking at some "Project 333" boards on Pinterest recently. These are the folks who pare their wardrobes down to 33 items, and then post photos of their entire wardrobes. Very interesting. So I had an inspiration to simply make a list of my entire wardrobe. Like an inventory. It's enlightening. My first observation: I have plenty of everything and need nothing. Hallelujah, I have enough! Okay, I knew that, but somehow I really know it now. I have no plan to cut back to 33 items--I enjoy the things I have. But I will keep the concept going as I consider additional purchases. Maybe the right question to ask is, if I did have a 33 item wardrobe, would this new item I'm considering fit into it? Would I give up something else to have it?
What do you all think?
Hey, I just talked myself into a moratorium on buying for the rest of May!

On 5/4/2014 laser said: Just Bee, I have been reading the compact and it does inspire me - soon it may actually cause me to act on the inspiration! Can I just tell you a little story about a raccoon? One morning at about 4:00 I awoke in my second story bedroom - thought I heard something. Woke my husband, who valiantly got out of bed and checked down the hall, finding nothing alarming. Back in bed, we both heard it again. He again got out of bed to check. As he did, I saw an animal move from UNDER OUR BED towards the bathroom! I jumped out of bed and slammed the door shut. DH comes running back, we peek in the bathroom, and saw a little baby raccoon snuggled in a shelf, having tossed the rolled up towels out into the tub. We have a nice snapshot of that that little baby who must have been scared witless. Somehow it made its way through the kitty door in the basement, climbed two sets of stairs and wandered down a long hallway into our bedroom, all while the fat old cat slept away! Let me tell you, it was a challenge getting that raccoon out of the house. It took about an hour or so, but we eventually got him to go down the hallway, down the stairs and out the front door. I watched with my coffee as he waddled away out the door. Now we always make sure to close the door to the basement every night!
Confession. I have a soft spot for raccoons because my mother brought one home for my tenth birthday. He was the brother I never had. (Actually, I do have a brother, but I preferred the raccoon.)
But I also know that raccoons, as charming as they look, can be rather nasty. Ours was affectionate and brilliant, but also devious and destructive. I do not recommend them as pets.
I'm glad you and your raccoon parted on good terms!
