A while ago just bee asked what our shame was, mine was not decluttering my clothes like I wanted to. I have been donating clothes to the youth home near us a little at a time. I said I wanted to be done with the clothes decluttering because I was taking to long to do it. Well, I a now finished going thru all the clothes I have and now just have to list what I am donating for tax purposes. I am just thrilled to be done. Thanks ladies for keeping on track.

Since the clothes are done, my next item on the list is going thru all the stacks of paper "stuff" I have sitting around the house. I have a bad habit of tearing pages out of magazines of ideas, or items that I want to look into. Well of course I have not gone back and looked at the papers and I probably have lost interest in the idea or items I though I wanted. I would just throw it all away and not look at it, but with my luck something important is stashed in the pile. I have found credit card statements in my stacks before so I guess I have my work cut out for me.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their ideas and reminders of things I need to get done, some how this thread make me feel accountable for cleaning out my stuff. Sorry about the rambling here.

Hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Memorial Day.

How many pairs of Alegrias to you own?

No snark -- I just needed a reason to post this picture! That expression is priceless. Oh... so how many pairs?

Uh... 14... 15, maybe. {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

That's not too bad. When I do my closet purge, I'll let you know how many pairs of flip flops I own. Probably a similar number.

Yeah, they opened a resale shop nearby and I was wondering if I could prune my closets of all the clothes I've never worn but haven't parted with because they're "new" (never worn and some still with tags on them). You know, things you buy, thinking you'll wear them once your personality completely changes and you become a different person? Which, of course, never happens so you're stuck with dozens of items (or more) that you'll never ever wear unless you're invited to a costume party.

You'll feel so good when you let go of these clothes! You can do it!!

Yes, it is. And they grateful having you in their lives. Smiley Happy

Reading this thread has made me realize that I have been to the mall recently and walked by Bath and Body Works without even glancing at the store.

My 2 surprises for speed are lotion and shave cream. Slow is shower gel and perfumes. I finally got busted for wearing perfume at work. Ugh! It will really take me a lifetime using up my stash if I can only use it on the weekends.

Fast: Lip glosses. I have discovered that if I actually use one or two on a regular basis, the go very quickly.

Slow: Fragrances, eye shadows, blushes. Fragrances really do last. And did you know that carbon dating was originally used to determine the age of powder cosmetics?

ETA: I am going through my cosmetics and throwing out anything that isn't fabulous. This week, I tossed to nail polishes and two small eye shadow palettes.

I have Philosophy's day time retinol sunscreen which I think has been discontinued. I think it's only lasted two months. I am not really a fan, so it doesn't bother me too much that it's going quickly.

PAlady, Great job finishing your clothes!

I used to tear pages out of magazines, mainly for new beauty products that I wanted to try. I put the pages in a drawer and rarely looked at them. When I was pregnant with my first child, a coworker gave me stacks and stacks of parenting magazines that she saved but no longer needed. I went through every one of them and tore out articles that I thought would be useful. Did I ever look at these pages? No. I have stopped pulling pages from magazine, including recipes. It was such a waste of time. Instead, I pass along magazines to friends.

The pool opens this weekend, and I need a new swimsuit. My swimsuits are faded. I do not buy a new one every year because I detest looking for one. Also, to me, swimsuits are utilitarian. I have to have one. People would stare if I swam in my jeans. So I will shop tomorrow. Wish me luck!
