Well, the end of March is here.
I don't know if it was spring fever or the fact that I now have an enabler for my acquisition addiction (my better half), but I think this is the first month since joining the Compact that I've had more coming in than going out.
On the other hand, my ORC went well. My tiny utility/laundry room now has a new hamper, and my better half put up a new rack on the wall for storing the small stuff. The old shelf is now more organized for the bigger, heavier stuff. I was able to bring my extra detergents in from the garage, so that's a good thing.
Hopefully I can get back on the wagon for April.

Wildob3: Three months? My vote would be no time limits, just another one by one until they're done. Don't 'cha think?
" + Dosey: I've also been thinking of cutting my hair. I haven't known what I wanted to do with it, so it just keeps growing. (imagine that) So it is now down to the middle of my back. I just put it up for summer. I'm afraid I would miss it if I were to cut it off.
For me the biggest change with the compact is I've actually been posting something. I am typically very quiet and reserve. So, thank you all for being here and sharing your thoughts.
It makes me very happy that you are comfortable with this thread and post here. Everyone is so kind. You never have to worry about one of us being snarky.
BTW, my new hairstyle wasn't my choice. DS, DD, and I go to the same hairdresser. When DS was getting his haircut, I mentioned that I would like to do something different with my hair. My hairdresser suggested the cut, so I just decided to go for it. There was an adjustment period, but I am more comfortable with it now. I have received compliments. That always helps. Also, I can put curling mousse in it, dry it with a diffuser, and wear it curly. I love that!

Oh, it's more than frugal. Next thing you know, you're Silas Marner. I haven't gone anywhere in years. No trips, vacations, concerts, nights at the bar, a celebration at the favorite little restaurant -- nothing fun or spontaneous in my life whatsoever.
Work, school, work, school. I'm in this little period before another degree begins and I think I should reward myself. Not with stuff, but with experiences. Everyone around me is having fun. Trips to NYC, trips to Europe.
I still have a flip cell phone. It's so old, the numbers are in hieroglyphics.
Every time I think about spending money I talk myself out of it. Let's go get sushi! Eh, let's cook something here instead. Let's go on a road trip! Eh, let's Google some photos instead. Let's go to a concert! Eh, let's just watch a video on YouTube instead.
I was looking at concert tickets online during a slow spell at work. A coworker said: "Just do it." Then he told everybody that I was going to go to a concert. Immediately I said there was no way I would pay those prices for tickets. (Good Lord! Have you seen ticket prices these days? I could go to Costco and stock the house with paper products and food instead!)
OMG. I've become boring. I've become as practical as my parents. OH MY GOD!!! I'M AN ADULT!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
On my deathbed, I'll be asking myself this question:
"Why didn't I just buy those tickets and go see Morrissey at the Sunshine Theater? Oh, Bee... why are you so cheap?"
Yeah, Morrissey was here in ABQ a few years ago and I talked myself out of buying tickets. And then I started to regret that. He'll never be here again. That was the moment. And I missed it.
I heard a radio ad this week: Ringo's coming to Albuquerque.
I never saw The Beatles in concert, but I managed to see McCartney during the Wings Over America tour. (Yes, I am that old.) This would be an opportunity to see a second Beatle before I die. Or before he dies.
I immediately talked myself out of it.
But when I was online looking at ridiculous tickets prices (whatever happened to the days when you went to your local record store and shelled out ten bucks to see The Who?), I noticed Morrissey was coming back to town.
Tickets for Ringo went on sale today. I had to make a choice. Would I be practical? Would I be frugal?
And then I thought about the whole point of our lives. We have such a limited time. We work hard and we collect items that we can't take with us when we exit -- stage right. What do we have then? Relationships and experiences. If we're lucky, we can still remember them.
I haven't had any experiences in a long time. Just work and stress and responsibility. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, I know I'll be thinking: You twit. You could have had more fun. But you went to YouTube instead.
I don't even know if I'll have my job in the upcoming months but I just bought tickets for Ringo and Morrissey.
Now I have to ask for those nights off. OMG.
I am so glad you bought the tickets!! Those are the things worth paying for because you get so much out of them. What a fantastic experience!! I never saw PM and Wings in concert, but I still have the Wings at the Speed of Sound album along with all of my other albums. When I was in the eighth grade, we had an assignment to read a poem we liked in front of the class. We could choose a song, so I picked Silly Love Songs. I had to read I Love You repeatedly to the class. I felt so stupid. What a poor choice.
Def Leppard is going to be in Charlotte this July. I want to go so badly, but DH won't consider it. I have asked a few friends if they are interested but haven't received a positive response.
Hopefully, I won't get to the point that I ask the person standing behind me at the grocery store checkout.
Flip phone? I love flip phones. When you close it, there is no chance of dialing someone by mistake. I used to have one until the hinge became so loose that I was worried my phone would break in two as I was using it. Now, I have one of the freebies that has the keyboard that slides out. On Counting Cars, Danny was being made fun of because he doesn't have a smart phone. He said he can take calls and make calls, and that was all he needed. I agree. Sometimes, I want a smart phone, but I am too cheap to pay the extra monthly fee. See! Downright frugal.

I've thought about stocking up when there's a sale but then I come to my senses. It just takes way too long to finish products. By the time I use up something, another sale will roll around. I'm not fearful of running out of stuff now. I've conquered the shower gels but my problem area now are fragrances. My friend has two fragrances that she uses. That will be me.... in 2015.
Ah, someone else came to this shocking conclusion, too! My stockpile was facial creams and serums and fragrances. The last two times that the HSN TS was a Lancôme fragrance set, I ordered three of each (I know, what?). The prices were great, free shipping, they were scents I love, the whole nine yards. So now I have managed to get through only two of those six sets and it is over one year after I purchased the last trio. I hope to be finishing up the last of those trios by 2015, too.
Fragrances last a really, REALLY, long time. 2015? Maybe.

Well, lesson learned. I hope. It is over & I just need to let it go.
I did get two nice blouses and 3 tank tops. There was not a single thing on clearance that was both my size and appropriate for summer so I only got 50 off full price items.
That is so disappointing! You are right, let it go as Idina Menzel (or Adele Dazeem in John Travolta's world) would say. The cards were still a good deal. You will find something you love at CC. Maybe a dress?
