I have some serious drama going on in my life right now so I'm making February another no-buy month. I'm thinking about a room-to-room pruning -- nothing too intense, just a superficial removal of the most glaring "unnecessities" -- before I commit to a room per month.

Just need to see how this current drama is going to work itself out before I put my energy into a new project.

I am sorry you have a problem in your life, my friend. Hopefully, it will be resolved quickly. Of course, if anyone is causing you distress and needs to be smacked, just let us know. The ComPacters will form a Smack Pack and take care of the situation. Smiley Wink No one hurts just bee!! No one.

I hit pan on a blush! *doing happy dance* Should finish this year, LOL!

Didn't get so far with the room this weekend--was going to start but it became cold and grey and made DH and I lazy! Will work a bit tomorrow on the dresser.

Neither did I. On Saturday night, I washed some clothes and sewed a button on a blouse. Then, I decided to work on my ORC - the master bedroom. To keep me company, I turned on the TV. Well, guess who was on? Jimmy Fallon! Jimmy Fallon, AGAIN! This time it was the best of Late Night. Nothing got done in the room. I blame Jimmy.

So... how's the cat?

Thanks for the support. It will be resolved. Maybe to my liking, maybe not. But it will be resolved. Just one big distraction right now. {#emotions_dlg.angry}

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

OMGosh!! How I long for simpler days! When I was a kid (early to mid 70's maybe), our neighbors had a TV with a remote! Oh, how I wanted a remote. I repeatedly asked my mom for one. She always said no because we did not need one. That was true. We had only three channels, for Pete's sake.

Fast forward to today. I still want a remote. Yes, a remote. Just one simple remote. Not six that only a computer programmer can operate. One simple remote. Heaven forbid if I touch the wrong button or use the wrong remote. It might shut down our whole system. Yes, we have a universal remote, but DH keeps the others within arm's reach because sometimes something happens that requires the remote for a specific component.

Some girls want diamonds. I want one simple remote.

If I were you I'd check my shoes before I put them on. Just sayin'.

I read your other post (#50). This is serious, isn't it. I just hate that. Please stay strong. Make a plan if possible. Come to the board for some distraction or to talk. We are your friends and truly care about you. Smile

Aw, shucks -- again!

It's serious but not fatal. It's work drama. In a nutshell (no pun intended), I work with psychiatric patients and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between my patients and my coworkers. No wonder Charles Krauthammer left psychiatry. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Last weekend, I took DD and one of her friends to the mall for lunch and window shopping. I was surprised to see Guess had closed. I really should not have been surprised because there were rarely any people in the store. Also, Nine West is closing. They had some good deals on boots and shoes. I tried on a few pairs but bought nothing. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I'm not going to make February a no buy. Instead, I am going to try thoughtful purchasing. For example, I mentioned that I decided that the Skinnytees TSV would be a good addition to my wardrobe, so I placed my order. I will donate some things to make room for the tees. Spring is just around the corner. Many of our annual bills are due in spring, so I prepare in advance for this. Those bills will be on my mind and keep me from spending.

"Getting started is as simple as asking yourself one question: How might your life be better if you owned fewer material possessions?"

To me, fewer possessions means more options. I have a big house filled with things I don't use or even look at. I'm in prison. I can't just pick up and go. I'm limited. Burdened.

I've attached a feeling, an emotion, a memory to every item I own. Items have become appendages and losing an item is like an amputation.

But having too many appendages makes it impossible to move, so I'm stuck.

What's your answer to this question?

How would it be better? Less stress!! I could find things that I need. A cleaner space. There are so many things that I hold on to because of sentimental reasons or because someone else held on to them for sentimental reasons. If I knew how to let go of this stuff, then I wouldn't have a 40 year old Sucrets box in my attic holding a few dog hairs. One thought that motivates me somewhat is that I do not want to leave this for my kids to take care of. They don't want knick-knacks, and neither do I.
