Re: ComPact 2014 – February

KonaKat, thank goodness you have the space heater! I can't imagine how you'd be managing if you did not!

You are doing great not buying things! That must feel very good.

Thanks for sharing the link! I like how he used the words.

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Hi all. My ORC didn't go well, I think because I was tackling paperwork and after dealing with it all day long in my job, I just run from it. But this will be my focus in March so I am not giving up. This needs to organized and functional.

I used up another hand cream and replaced with one from my closet. I am almost done with my last lotion. I will then use other stuff I have, like aloe Vera gels, before I purchase more. If the aloe doesn't help, I will buy but I would really like to use this stuff up first. I also have a oils that I would like to use. I do need to make an effort to use more products. Some of them could have been used up if I made it a point to use. That is okay because just helps me to not buy this stuff in the future and keep it simple. I don't use a quarter of the stuff I think I will use.

I hope everyone is doing good.

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

March 01: kitchen, bedroom or bathroom? I'm going for the kitchen. I have Sunday off & hope to tackle the kitchen-- in earnest. Already began tossing expired OTC items (cough stuff, etc). That was a motivator too (the $$$ spent on unused 'medication' type stuff--grrr) Thank you Kona Kat for the father/daughter link. Very moving. And again thank you to Just Bee & to everyone here for a special place to come...share...motivate...and enjoy! I know-- still one day to go. Just getting 'geared up' :-)

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Willdob3 - I was really tempted by the easy spirit shoe TS. I resisted...told myself to wait for reviews and if they are good next time they are on sale I can buy a pair.

I haven't posted much this month. Not really been online as much as usual.

The OPI TS yesterday was super tempting since I thought all the colors were pretty plus I didn't own any of them. It was good price too. But I dragged out my nail polish box and looked thru all of my colors. I owned a comparable color for each one offered in the TS so I told myself no. I then proceeded to paint my fingernails and toes. The vendors were right - a nice bright color on my fingers does make me happier. This winter has been too blah. There was also a good Elysee deal (My skin likes this line) but I avoided that one too by looking at my stash.

Since it's been super cold and dry here, I've been slathering on body cream/butters after each shower. My stash is getting smaller! I did add to it by getting the L-Occitane autodelivery. It was my valentines gift to me. I thought it was better than chocolate less calories lol. I also bought the Isomers TS kit. My skin is loving the moisture cream? It's odd I had been trying Peter THomas Roth's retinol which really dried out my skin unlike other retinol products. The isomers cream (which was barely discussed in any of the shows so it most likely was a "filler") soaks in super well and my skin isn't peeling like it was. I also put the rest of the PTR away. May try it again when it's less dry weather.

My ORC didn't fair well. I found myself cleaning elsewhere - sort of cleaning ADD I guess? I'll try again for March.

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Ok, the end of February is here!

Purchases: 8 large Yankee Candle jars (4 were free plus I got $7 off one of ones I was charged for), 2 Illuma lids and a wick trimmer for the candles

Used: 2 bar soaps, 1 body butter, 1 hand soap, 2 shower gels, 1 hair texture, 4 jar candles, 4 votive candles, 1 toothpaste, 23 samples (hair care, body lotion, mouthwash)

Tossed: 27 misc old items (makeup, clothing, etc)

Donated: 3,125 Q-tips to the animal shelter

ORC: This has been a partial success. I've spent almost 7 hours going through years of paper clutter. I've lost count of the number of bags and boxes of paper I have cleared out. These were taken to the Church's Day School Recycling program. I still have much to do in this room. I want to do the ORC for next month, but need a break from the tediousness (is that a word?) of going through papers piece by piece.

What I've learned this month: While some of you find it easy to resist making purchases, I'm still "addicted to the acquisition". That's why I was not able to resist the candles! The good thing is, I do burn them every afternoon and evening, so they will get used.

OK March, here we come!

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

I made it for the two months without buying any beauty items. So, I just put an order in for 20% off Bobbi Brown for three items the CC cream in nude, new shimmer lipstick in ballerina pink, and the new foundation stick in warm ivory. This should hold me for a little while longer! I am still using my skincare products and I am already looking forward to finishing them! How stupid.
