Re: ComPact 2014 – February

I'm proud of the control I had for January, ending the month with no non-essential purchases made. I'm going to the city today at which time I'm taking to Good Will two boxes of things removed from the kitchen that I have not used in a long time. If I ever need the item (doubt it) then it can be purchased again. In addition to continuing to work on the kitchen, I'll try another month of non-essential purchases.

Happy February Everyone! Thanks Just Bee for keeping this thread going.

For my ORC, I'm jumping in with both feet and tackling the den/office "junk room" This is the worst area of my house. My goal is to get it to a point where I will no longer be ashamed if anyone sees it!{#emotions_dlg.blushing}

NetteJ: I had to laugh at your post because I'm a pack rat as well. My office if full of boxes of old statements, empty boxes, supplies from when I was selling candles, and goodness knows what else!

OK, let's just do it!

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Hi everyone...Happy February 1. I did fall off the wagon in January long enough to cave on the JM TSV. I don't know what happened. I made it to 11:30 and after seeing all the presentations lost my mind and found myself frantically ordering on my iPhone just before midnight. There. I have confessed and I feel better lol. The good news is I sent it back so I don't feel quite so guilty. With the exception of that I didn't buy any non essential items. My husband even commented on the lack of purchases when the Amex bill came lol. I am committed to using what's here and not buying unnecessary stuff. I have been tempted by eye shadow palettes lately but haven't bought anything yet...one day at a time Smiley Happy Have a great weekend all.

O/T: I don't know how many of you love lavender, but if you have a plant, I found this "recipie" for making lavender oil. Here

We have an old, overgrown plant that needs to be trimmed back. I hope it produces lots of flowers this summer so I can make my own oil.Smile

Can you prove that it was me who said I would start with my office? Ok, I know it was me, but I am a Pack Rat! I'll bet I still have papers since the 80s. Please don't make me go in there! LOL

I have bank statements, cancelled checks, school papers, and greeting cards from the 70s. I win.

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

January was overall a good month for hitting my stash. Since it's been horrid cold and dry, I have been using up a ton of body creams/lotions.

I did a great job avoiding beauty TS temptation including the SSC glycolic kit that I know I would have loved but I declined since I had some acids in my stash to use up first.

I'm not proclaiming a no-buy February since I'm nearing the end of my HG exfoliant from Paula's Choice. I have been holding out for her site to do a sale but so far I haven't seen a sale yet. I will need to get a bottle this month. I love her customer service - I know I can order online and get the box within a couple days!

One Room Challenge - I need to proclaim that room as my bedroom. I have clothes in my closet and dresser that haven't been worn in months maybe years. This month's challenge will be to weed thru the clothes and donate the good stuff. Also, I'm going to throw out things that in horrid shape that I still wear at home. I have enough "good" clothes to replace the poor stuff. Why should I look horrid at home?

I forgot to add --- MAJOR accomplishment for me ---- first time ever I completely avoided the B&BW semi annual sale!! Other years, I would have at least bought some 3 wick candles. This year I bought nothing! I really hit my candle stash instead. I started burning a couple scents I had been "saving"....saving for what? who knows....

I do the same thing with bath and body stuff. I'll put off using the things I REALLY enjoy (Perlier French Lime Blossom, Lancôme La Vie Est Belle) to use up things I don't like as well. I don't know why I'm saving them either, but I do.

You're saving them for that special day when you finally open them only to discover they've turned and have to be tossed. {#emotions_dlg.lol}

So far, bee, that hasn't happened. I guess it eventually could have, if I hadn't put the brakes on accumulation of the old stasheroo! Those days are over, now, though.

And right now, I'm going through those awful boxes of papers. It's a good day for it - cloudy, rainy, and I'm drinking Earl Gray tea.
