Re: ComPact 2014 -- December

justbee, this thread has given me so much inspiration and encouragement in downsizing since my retirement. I am down to 3 candles and 4 kinds of tea. My casual summer wardrobe is down to 3 pair of white capris and 5 cute T-shirts along with 2 nice pair of linen trousers and 3 blouses. I have 1 summer dress for going out and I am able to accessorize it many ways. It feels so wonderful to have only what I need.

RetRN -- I'm jealous!

How nice to end 2014 with messages from so many of you. Dosey, we were worried about you. Know that you can come here for support. Or just drop by and vent.

That goes for everyone. This is where we can continue to peer into the ComPact and make faces at ourselves. Or just smile.

I have to work tonight, but I'll post a new thread for a new month and a new year before I trudge off into the cold night. Temperature's dropping like a rock and we may get snow!

Looks like a new thread is starting for 2015: SIMPLIFY 2015. If it takes off and you ladies would like to "switch," I will discontinue the ComPact. I've already discontinued HEP -- there won't be a January thread.

I don't post here often, but I do read this thread. I, for one, would hate to see it discontinued. You all have a certain chemistry, comradeship, or whatever you choose to call it. Some people may choose to remain in this thread, others may switch, and others may like to frequent both or any other threads that might pop up on a similar subject. More's the merrier, eh? It's always nice to know that there are others out there somewhere that think like we do, no matter where they choose to voice their opinions.

Why not just wait and see what direction the other thread(s) take and what people here think later on? Unless of course, you'd rather not continue it...

Dosey, sending you hugs and wishing you all the best in 2015. This thread is special so thanks so much, JustBee, for rolling us into 2015. So many of the threads posted on these boards are really so judgmental and hurtful, and it is so comforting to know that the Compactors are all about being among friends. I am so grateful to have found you all. Happy 2015 to all.

Re: ComPact 2014 -- December

JustBee, please keep this thread going! It has changed my life! We just got back from vacation and I never would have been able to travel with a carry on before. The ComPact has helped me realize that I don't need as much as I think so I bring less and shop less on vacation. It has trickled down to the rest of my family. No more hoarding and less collecting. Dosey, so glad to have you back. Praying for you & your family. Prayer works. God hears.

Re: ComPact 2014 -- December

Sometimes when I go to a hotel, I look at the room and wonder if I could live there. Usually, there is about a four foot wide closet, an average bathroom and about three feet of counter space with a tiny sink and a mini refrigerator. There is always a table with two chairs, and generally a chair with an ottoman. That gets a person thinking about living a much simpler life and how it really could be done.
