Colored Lipstick for Mature Women

I just heard recently that lipstick with color is better for mature women and I totally agree.  Nude lipsticks do nothing for me because I don't wear a bunch of eye makeup.  On the other hand, when I wear lipstick with some color, it brings out the color of my eyes.  I usually wear mascara and if I do wear eye shadow, it's a swipe across the lower lid.  Are you a woman that wears colored lipstick or do you prefer the nude lipstick?   Cat Very Happy

I prefer lipsticks that are creamy with color. All of the lipsticks that I own and keep are in shades of rose, dusky pink, berry, and light mauve. Nude shades make me look washed out and do nothing for my smile or teeth.

Nude with just a tint of color (definitely not shimmery or matte) more like a nature kissed gloss/cream....color looks harsh and ages me.

I totally agree!  I am 70 and I'd say for the past few years I have gravitated towards brighter lips, and much less eye makeup.  I like everything from pinks and mauves, to bright fuschia and real red!!  I always get compliments and the one thing people say is my lip color brings our the color of my eyes and really makes them the center of attention!

Who knew?  I always thought eye makeup did that!

I do keep trying softer lips, most times for at home days, but know I look my very best with some color.

When I was a "kid," I always wore elaborate, bright lipsticks and muted eyes. Now, as a middle aged broad, I go with the elaborate smokey eye and nude lip.

I am beginning to agree, especially since I discovered LipSence by SeneGence.  It is a long lasting liquid lip color.  I love their color Mojave.  A must is the clear that goes over the colors.

I am very fair and if I use a nude lipstick, it just blends in to my skin.  Same with wearing light peach.  I like some bright color.  My coloring is very close to that of Queen Elizabeth so I try to copy the colors she wears; clear brights in clothes and make up.   She knows what she's doing.  I want crowds of people to be able to see me when I sit in my carriage.

Lately I've been buying red/dark berry lippies. I've worn fuchsia as well and both the reds and vivid pinks work great with my olive complexion.

No way would I ever wear a nude.

What do you consider mature?  I am in my 50s; that's what I think, "I'm in my 50s".  I don't associate my age with being old, young, mature or immature.  My choices in makeup are different now than  when I was in my 30s, but my tastes have changed.  I think all of our tastes change more than once throughout our lives.

Since I was 15 years old, I have never been one who liked to wear a lot of makeup.  I've experiemented with more makeup over the years, but always felt like I was not "in my own skin".

I have always liked to wear a pinky-brown shade of lipstick.  In the summer, I like a pinky-bronze.  I'm comfortable with that, it looks good to me and I think that's what is most important.  Is it a "mature" choice?  I have no idea...I'm in my 50s.

Re: Colored Lipstick for Mature Women

Maybe in the past 10 or so years I've gotten darker and darker in my lipstick.

I love red lipstick.  I found some Laura Geller amazing red mat lipstick!  It stays and it's my favorite!

I get a lot of compliments on it.  I turned 70 last year.  It doesn't bleed.
